An amazing restaurant on all fronts. I’ve lived next to this place for years and from the outside it doesn’t look like anything special but a step inside reveals a beautiful and tastefully decorated restaurant. The service was impeccable, servers were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The menu was amazing, farm to table type food. We had the Rack of Boar, the Halibut, and the Butternut Squash Ravioli. All amazing. Fresh and filled with flavour. This hole in the wall spot is going to be on my top recommendation lists going forward, nothing to complain about, but everything to recommend 10/10

Some of the best service I’ve ever received. The staff seemed absolutely excited to be serving us. Would come back just for the warm hospitality, let alone the food, which was outstanding.

This is a comfortable and classy restaurant with delicious Canadian-inspired ingredients and dishes. The beef carpaccio is different, it’s made with cured beef, so it’s a bit saltier than you’d expect. The halibut ceviche was out of this world. There’s just a touch of smoked olive oil in there that makes it comforting and addictive. The elk was served with a delicious purée, some tortellini pockets of gooey love and the flavor balanced with savoury mushrooms and sweet/tart berries- just what you need with a lean game meat. My wife’s halibut and risotto was equally fantastic. The wine list is varied as the dessert menu is also inspired by Canadian preferences (I.e. house-made doughnuts In chocolate sauce reminiscent of slightly overcooked beaver tail). The service was proactive, friendly and patient with all our preferences and allergies. Great ambiance and a beautiful historic building. I will recommend this place to friends and we will be back!

Have been here for business lunches multiple times, and a few times for dinner. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and calming, with lots of use of beautiful wood elements. Service is consistently excellent, servers are always polite and professional. I’ve tried quite a few items on the menu and everything has been very good so far. Prices are on the higher end but they are fair and reasonable for the quality. Overall, highly recommend this establishment for a business meeting or a date night.

Classic places with excellent services and food. Pricy but worth it. Nice environment, good music choice as it is not loud.

Wow, what a meal. I had the charcuterie tray and the seared elk. The elk was cooked to perfection. Great cocktail list too. Had the Canadian manhattan. Finished it off with the s’mores. The only negative is that I don’t live in Toronto! Was visiting from the US. Can not recommend enough.

We dined with James tonight while celebrating my husband’s birthday and had the most delicious meal! If you aren’t looking for the address, you could miss the door but this is definitely not a restaurant to be missed! We don’t often frequent the same restaurant twice with so many choices in the city but we will definitely be back! The butternut squash ravioli made this meat eater so happy that I’m already ready to go back! My husband loved his steak and his parents loved the duck! We had the carpaccio, ceviche, and beet salad as well and enjoyed every bite! I’m not one to overly praise when not deserved but this was truly a great dining experience from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left.

The Woods was awesome. We went during winter holidays so it was quite empty - normally this place is packed! Lucky us because we get to enjoy our food with less crowd. Always recommend folks to eat at popular restaurants during holidays.Woods has private rooms in the basement - great if you're hosting a get together.The tartare was delicious. The foie gras was small so it wasn't a good idea to share that between 4 people. I recommend 1 per 2 ppl to the very least!

We had a great dinner with friends visiting for a conference. The meal was excellent from the foie gras and the oysters through to the smoked elk. The elk was spectacular with a terrific sauce. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Overall and excellent experience

Exceptional! A menu rich with high quality and creative farm to table options is equally matched by professional service. Lorne managed our large group with a style thst was a perfect blend of personal and formal. I'm already planning a family dinner for December and hope to back before then.

We went as a party of two on a Friday night with reservations. The restaurant was moderately busy. The thing that stood out to me was the professional decor and the service. Everything from the waiters taking our coats to pulling out our chairs and offering sparkling water with free mini appetizers made us feel very special. The food itself was portioned rather small and fairly pricey, but for a finer dining experience it was definitely worth it. The chicken cordon bleu was a tad too salty, and the pumpkin ravioli had one piece which contained a pumpkin seed shell; however, these minor grievances were not enough to detract from the amazing service. I would certainly come here again for a special occasion.
