Wasserhund Brewing Company

About

Wasserhund Brewing Company, meaning "water dog" in German, was born from a love of the beach, dogs, and German beer. We aspire to bring the German beer culture to Virginia Beach in the best way... by brewing the highest quality ales and lagers and providing the environment to enjoy them with family, friends, and strangers. We also match our beer with artisan pizza made to order in our brick oven. Or you can order beer sausages and add some sauerkraut for a real German experience. Call it whatever you want... we call it German style brewing with a Beach kick. Really, it's great beer and great times. Prost!

Love this place. But just ordered there takeout. It's a joke they are charging you the same as if you are in, but yet if you order take out you get a 4 slice personal pan pizza. Plus the quality and an taste is not there. I get it everyone is hurting but this is a scam

Hot garbage of an experience at a place that’s usually extremely goodArrived at 7:20, drinks and food in at 7:30Pizza arrived at 8:20, soggy and not fully cooked after a long waitMaybe an off night but then another 15 minute wait until our bartender returned to box our pizza and give us our check, plus clearly only ate a slice and a half but was aloof to the condition of the product we received Will definitely be a long time until we return unless we are feeling a soggy pizza, long wait, and subpar service Oh and I’m excited about going home and then reheating my pizza so I can enjoy it hopefully this time

Being from Raleigh I enjoy being able to support local beer scenes when I travel. We were catching a show up the street and wanted a bite beforehand. I can say that the pizza was quite good (kale and feta go well together! Who knew?). As noted in other reviews there are pros and cons to a busy seat-yourself place. It's hard on the servers, so I would suggest actually having a hostess seat patrons. The beer...was...average at best. Schwarzbier was good as was the kettle sour IPA. I was unimpressed with the boysenberry Gose had no tartness to speak of, which kinda defeats the purpose of the style. Their Dog Paddle IPA had an odd sour dairy flavor to me and the Maple lager didn't taste like maple. Long story short - go have a pizza. Be selective about your beer choices.

Questions & Answers

They have fantastic beers!! Great family place and they are dog friendly too.

We try to always have a gluten free on tap, however due to the in depth process we currently do not have one available.

5 psi would be a good start. Work down for less head, up for more. Remember if you need to decrease, the residual pressure will make excess head. Also, it needs to be at serving temperature.

You can get their German shepeweizen in cans from the brewery. Don't think they sell in stores yet. You can also get a crowler (32 oz can) of any beer they have on tap.
