Windsor Castle was home to 39 monarchs, and the appearance of the State Apartments reflects the change of taste of the royal occupants of the castle, in particular Charles II (r.1660-85) and George IV (r.1820-30). Charles II, to rival the achievements of his cousin, Louis XIV, in Versailles, France, modernized the interiors of the castle, which became England's largest State Apartments. The rooms are furnished with some of the most important objects of the royal collection;

This is my favourite part of the castle as I love looking at the armour, swords, pistols, muskets and rifles. The audio guide was great for my father in law who doesn't speak a lot of English and I also found it very informative in English too.

An amazing stop and worth the expense and other tourists. Gives you a real in-depth look at the monarchy and it’s importance and stature. Humanises the monarch in a way which doesn’t lower them. Beautiful rooms, important history, and outstanding pieces from the Royal Collection.

The artifacts inside are worth watching.

Probably the most interesting part of the castle. There is a very large collection of armor and other militaria. A strange feeling when looking at the armor in which the king was dressed, and about which he read on the history lesson. The collection of paintings is also very rich, and the decor of the chambers is beautiful. For this we have everything told in detail by an electronic guide. It is a pity that you can not photograph interiors.

This is an amazing series of halls, rooms and suites. After the fire in 1992, there are parts that are not original but they were re-made great. The Waterloo Room is particularly impressive.
