Monterrey Mexican Restaurant

All around best Mexican restaurant in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Range of food from authentic to more Americanized dishes, are all of which are great; cheese dip (particularly the chorizo queso) is fantastic. The service is typically excellent. Wish they still had a separate lunch menu with lower prices, but the overall quality still keeps me coming for dinner.

I've eaten at Monterey more times than I can count over the years having grown up in the area & the food is great, but good food doesn't matter if getting to your table is like walking across ice. My dad slipped and dislocated his shoulder & I almost slipped a few times due to the floor feeling like it was wiped down with crisco. Seriously, I have never felt a floor so slick in a restaurant. Probably a one time thing (hopefully) but we had to call EMS to come pop his shoulder back in place when we got home.

One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in Chapel Hill-Carrboro! I fell in love with the supreme Chicken Nachos from their food truck parked on Franklin Street, and that drew me to their beautiful restaurant on 15-501. Their pinto beans and Mexican-sryled rice are perfect, along with their cheese enchiladas. The only thing they could improve on is to offer s special chunky guacamole prepared and created tableside like Rocco's Tacos does in Ft.Lauderdale (and another Mexican restaurant in Raleigh). Basically, they need to move away from pureed guac to a chunky one made to order.
