This place has fantastic food and a really interesting history. Seafood paella it's a most and they have the best French onion soup on the block.

Damn good food. If this is a tourist trap, best tell the locals.

It's not everyday you get to dine at a place that's been around since 1933! I had the shepherd's pie and bread pudding for dessert and they both were fantastic! The bar was busy but service was still great. The bartender (Rob I think) did a great job and treats everyone like he's known you for years. First time I've ever been there and yet the service made me feel like Norm walking into the Cheers bar.Awesome place!

I really appreciated the management contacting me - very professional and willing to support their customers, even for little issues. Thank you for listening and responding promptly. Much appreciated to your team. Respectfully EO (the waitstaff were great - especially the lady bartender who was gracious to me and my friends). Thanks so much for your service - we had a great time.

Great place with a historic heritage of Presidents and other known people that have payed the location frequent visits. We got a history lesson from a pleasant man when seated that ended with an introduction of the recommend dishes. Almost a five star, but a few minor details gives a 4+. The food was very good (especially the gravy), cooked to order and the price was not too bad for such a location. I think the booths would give you an even better experience.

We sat in the proposal booth. Though the server seemed a bit snooty that I ordered my bison burger "medium well," it was a great time. Bartend gave us each a free drink since it was our first time in DC. Also received a complimentary glass of champagne. The filet was phenomenal and the bison burger was as well. History of the joint is amazing and the atmosphere was too.

I love their onion soup. Other favorites include the crab cakes and bread pudding. The music is also always on point and brunch is pretty good too! A place for all occasions :)

A lovely historical tavern in Georgetown, and a perfect place to grab a bite and unwind during the holidays! Loved their real egg nog and crab cakes. Would pass on their Welsh rarebit—too much oil from the melted cheese and they have limited cider options, but loved everything else!

The history, the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the generous servings of really good reasonably priced food combined to make Martin's Tavern a really special place for lunch. My friend and I shared sandwiches. The prime rib and cheese, oozing with melted provolone, was really good, but our favorite was the roasted turkey loaded with Swiss cheese, bacon and avocado. Our server, Lydia, encouraged us to try the homemade BBQ chips and we were glad we did. We were so comfortable and content, we hated to leave.

Amazing restaurant! A definite go to if you are in D.C. and/or Georgetown. The history of this tavern was great to listen to! Mike who provided the history of this place plus the story behind some of the menu choices was amazing! Loved hearing about the tavern, the guests and the tables. Food was exceptional as was the service. We WILL be back!!! Thank you Mike and Alexis, who was our incredibly attentive server!!! You must save room for the bread pudding!

So much history here. It's a small and tight space, but it is definitely worth checking out. The food was great and the atmosphere as well.

The food was good but typical bar menu. The service was incredible. Staff was very attentive and super friendly. We had a tired kid in our party, they let him sleep in one of the empty booths and gave him a stack of napkins to use as a pillow.

Love coming to Martin's when we visit Washington. It is always packed, so reservations are necessary
