Ambiance 5 Decor 5 Service 1 Food a 0 I am the farthest from a picky eater. I will pretty much eat anything and everything and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. This was the exception. I ordered a skirt steak and I have to send it back because it was so chewy that it was inedible. I finally find the waiter to tell them about this and ask for any replacement and he brings me back within three minutes a grilled chicken. Chicken had a hard crust on the outside and was chewing on the inside. I did not eat more than one bite. When the meal was over the weather came, clear the table and asked us if we wanted to have dessert.

Please STOP ! Please STOP calling these pastries "French" as they are everything but French. I bought four macarons and a millefeuille (also known in the US as a Napoleon) and everything was horrible. The macarons were oversweet and barely tasted like the fruits or flavors they claimed to be made of. Total waste of money and major dissapointment. The millefeuille/Napoleon was a scam : this pastry is supposed to be made with a pastry cream (milk, egg yolks, vanilla or rhum) but Bilboquet seems like they have decided to save quite a bit and are using some weird cream made of white chocolate. The puff pastry was neither buttery nor airy but dense and tastless. The whole thing was gross and went straight to the garbage. Shame on you for using cost cutting shortcuts and damaging this centuries old old beautiful art of French pastry : respect the recipes, use the finest ingredients or call whatever you are selling something else !

Thank you for once again serving a lovely meal by lovely people. I have dined with Bilboquet since they were a small bistro across from the Lowell Hotel, and even though they have grown up a lot, they have never lost their high standards.

One of my favorite places to celebrate something. The service is great - so French but without the attitude - and it goes from being a sophisticated upscale restaurant with great art on the walls to a fun dance club when they bring out big bottles of rosé with sparklers to sing you happy birthday...then goes right back.

The restaurant does not offer French cuisine but normal European that you can find in any brasserie or Cafe restaurant in northern Europe. There was a menu with just a couple of options for starter, main and desert; very normal/standard plates (maybe because we were a table of 8 ppl?). The quality and taste were average. During the dinner we did not feel comfortable or welcome but rather rushed because of the hostess' curt way. We understand the fast pace in NY, but not in a restaurant where you go to enjoy a dinner with your friends. The result? A bill of more than €200 dollars PER PERSON for the 3-course dinner with 1 glass of wine each and water! Was it worth the money? Absolutely not!! Sadly a total waste. I would never go back and I would advise every friend not to even think about eating there.

What a disappointment; horrible service; food tasted like it came out of a can; Cajun Chicken - what? Save the trouble and go to Popeye's. And Michael Jackson music blaring so loud it was ... the perfect exclamation point to a completely horrible dining experience.

Food was good but the atmosphere was not. Loud music was played for celebrations and some tables had rowdy guests.

Their Cajun chicken is fantastic, but get it with the sauce on the side so that your fries or salad don't get soggy! The service is fantastic and the atmosphere delightful. Would definitely recommend it and would joyfully return.

Delicious food with an Upper East Side Scene! Overpriced bit I enjoy it so much I give it a 5 star review. If I could it would more of a 9/10.

I am (was) a regular customer at Le Bilboquet and have frequented the restaurant for both work, since my office is two blocks away at the GM building and with friends, since I live three blocks away. I had a very disappointing experience today with the Maitre d, which compelled me to write this review. I arrived alone at the restaurant and asked for a table outside for a party of two, my friend arrived shortly thereafter. We were greeted nicely by the waiter, placed a drink order, got a couple of beers, then placed our dinner order. While we were enjoying our beers we were abruptly approached by the Maitre d, who proceeded to tell us that we had to leave immediately since I “hadn’t told him my friend was wearing shorts”. He then proceeded to bring the check. Fully understand that the restaurant has a dress code, and while I don’t think my friends shorts were offensive (he was on his way to a tennis class), believe the situation could have been handled more respectfully and tactfully. The Maitre d was condescending and made the situation a lot more awkward for us (and the couple in the table next to us) than what it had to be. Naturally, I objected to paying the check, seeing as he was hushing us out and we had barely taken a sip of our drinks. He was then quick to blame me again for “not telling him my friend had shorts” as if I was supposed to know the dress code of every restaurant in the city, which I found pretentious, especially since we were sitting outside on the street (?). There were several waitresses and bus-boys who served us and could have informed us of the dress code as soon as my friend sat down, so unsure why he had to make such a scene out of this. To sum it up, we felt very unwelcome, will certainly not be returning and will make sure my assistant removes it from our preferred list of restaurants near the office. Pictured are the Belgian beers we were not allowed to finish.

The food here is out of this world. This restaurant is a shining star on the upper east side. Our experience was stellar from beginning to end. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Our waitress, Caroline, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and helpful with her suggestions, for both food and wine and she was one step ahead of all our needs. Just exquisite service. Outdoor and also limited indoor seating available. Everything is spaced out perfectly, and the staff adheres to all the new health guidelines. Felt extremely comfortable and safe. Hats off to the chef and their kitchen. It was a dinner I will not soon forget.
