L'Artusi

About

Opened in December of 2008, L'Artusi is the second step from the team that brought dell'anima to the West Village. Chef/Partner Gabriel Thompson and Beverage Director/Partner Joe Campanale share their expertise in Italian Epicurean Hospitality on a larger stage. Featuring rustic cuisine, a crudo bar, specialty cheese program, private dining room, and a walk-in wine cellar, L’Artusi offers guests a variety of dining options and a warm, friendly vibe. Our 110 seat restaurant, designed by Brooke Maples, features two floors of comfortable banquette seating, extended traditional bar, cheese bar and a chef's counter over-looking the open kitchen. Private dining opportunities are also available in our 2500 bottle walk-in wine cellar.

Really nice spot. Order the gimlet. Small and intimate. Glad I ate here

My business partner and I had a wonderful experience here in January while visiting NYC for a conference. We sat at the bar and received incredibly attentive service. We sent colleagues there the next night and they had the same wonderfully attentive experience. The vibe was cozy but lively on a cold (thankfully not too cold!) winter night. The food was delicious - really everything we tried was so good. Thanks for getting us out of mid-town and giving us an awesome NYC meal to remember!

We came here for an early dinner and it was simply perfect. Firstly the food is exceptional with a special shout out to the Ravioli special stuffed with house made ricotta and egg yolk - it is sensational. Everyone bangs on about the olive cake for dessert but try the lavender ice cream as well, it’s packed with flavor and will send you to all sorts of places. Our sever Dennis really added to the experience as well. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and always ensured our glasses were full with the Lambrusco we ordered. Good job sir!

Questions & Answers

The price is resonable for this style of restaurant. It's not cheap, and it's not too expensive either. Definitely worth it!

Yes they do, but do so as early as you can. You'll be more likely to get a seat.

Casual

Pretty sure only stairs.

In relation to every “ exciting” eatery in NY, it’s relatively relaxed in terms of prices , and the experience the atmosphere, and the wait staff, are all extraordinary.

Hey Karen, this restaurant/bar as well as the west village neighborhood is very safe. I've left here very late in the night and i never felt nervous or concerned during the walk to the nearby subway stations, hope this eases your concerns!

I believe so. No steps at the entrance and while there is an upper level, most tables are on the main floor. It is often crowded which may be more of a deterrent than anything else.
