A friend asked me out for dinner in Detroit. She wanted to know what type of food I liked. I said I’m game for anything.... Takoi was a perfect adventure. The food had a great Mix of many different flavors from Thai influence to Spanish to Latin American flavors. Spice, and cilantro, and coconut, and seafood etc. it reminded me of a tapas restaurant with a serving style of several small plates to share. All tasted really great. The atmosphere felt like one of the type of hip New York small eateries where professionals hand out after work. They also had a creative cocktail list that’s well worth exploring. It’s worth the trip.

Don't be dissuaded if your palate can't tolerate spicy. Takoi is ALWAYS worth the trip to Corktown. Flavor development of every dish is well thought out and staff gives great recommendations.PRO TIP - Ask for a shot of the 'Ice Cold Brueger' to be poured over the Coconut Milk Ice Cream dessert.

Not to be hyperbolic, but this is simply the best restaurant in Detroit. Period. The menu is constantly evolving, and when an old favorite exits, it's replaced with an even more inventive dish. The drinks are equally inspired. Great ambience. Super friendly staff. Super popular, so sometimes there's a wait, but it's always worth it.
