Having had four years to try various bars in the beer-loving college city of Ann Arbor, I was pleasantly surprised to find a brand-new place as good as any of them right here in Waterloo, where I grew up. Hopskeller is spacious but full of character, a beautiful place. Of the 7-8 beers I tried, I would gladly re-order Tower Hill Strong Bitter, Moorgate, and Northern English Brown Ale. All four of the wood fire pizzas we tried were excellent. This is my new favorite place in Waterloo.

Great place to eat and drink. Friendly staff and friendly ownership and nothing at all like their competitors around town ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Cool building houses great microbrewery. Great location. Bar food available. Perfect patio, when the weather cooperates.

Excellent beer, though a bit pricey, even by brewpub standards. High quality is never cheap. The pizza has excellent flavor, but the bottom of the crust was doughy and soggy on Saturday afternoon. They need to get the floor of the oven hotter to get a crispier crust.

Hopskeller offers a great variety of unique craft brews and cocktails. The kitchen also offers an inventive selection of pizzas and bratwurst combinations. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, with a great back patio.

Having now been to Hopskeller multiple times since they reopened, I can say with conviction that they are even better than they were before the fire! The beer is without peer. The Illinois Common Ale is so unique and delicious that if it was the only thing served, it would be enough to keep me coming back! Add to that some of the best wood fired pizza in the area, artisan cocktails that will make hipsters cry tears of joy and a beautiful historic building and there is no place I'd rather go to relax and have a few drinks with friends!

We love this place! There is such a fantastic selection of beers. Oh and if you like mixed drinks they have you covered as well. Check the boards behind the bar for the most up to date drink options since they change with the seasons. The food options are all really good. The pizza is from the brick oven so you know it's good. And if you just want to watch sports and eat a dog they got you covered. TVs in every direction make it easy to catch a game and shuffleboard is always there if you need it. The building is beautiful, the courtyard is well maintained and great for a calm nights drink, and the staff is always great to be around! Thanks for being a staple in Waterloo!

Excellent brewpub. Nine regular house beers in a variety of styles plus three seasonals. Friendly bar staff. Very busy on a Saturday night so took a while for my pizza to come, but worth the wait. Only wish I lived nearer. I'm not much of a sports fan, but lots of screens for those who are.

Such a cool historic building! They have over a dozen brews and lots of cocktails! Their menu has a few appetizers, hot dogs and woodfire pizzas. We tried the Fat Bottom Girls pizza and it was fantastic! The pretzels with beer cheese were great as well. There's seating upstairs that's perfect to watch a game and outdoor seating near another restaurant that had live music. We'll definitely be back again!
