Located in Shaw, Espita is exploring the food, drinks, and culture of southern Mexico Driven by a quest to surface authentic flavors and techniques, Chef Rob Aikens and Beverage Director James Simpson are constantly pushing their teams to research and create. They fuel their creativity with inspiration from their many travels to Mexico, bringing home memories and people they want to honor with their food and drink. We specialize in Oaxacan cuisine seen through the lens of the Mid-Atlantic. You will not find traditional Oaxacan dishes here. Instead you will find authentic Oaxacan flavors and techniques applied to the beautiful seasonal bounty of our region, creating a unique experience only available here. Food is the story of people. Very tasty brunch. Was able to walk in and get a table for 4 with no problem at noon on a saturday. Good brunch drink options, and a nice (but limited) menu that includes juevos rancheros, tacos, and a waffle with fried chicken. The guac with maryland crab was delicious and good to share as an app.

Interesting menu and a great looking dining room. The food was generally good but overpriced. The wait service was seriously lacking. They kept our water glasses filled but didn’t do much else very well. They never knew who ordered what at a 10 party table. They never asked if we wanted drink refills. And we couldn’t get help when we needed it.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Amazing food - we had tlayudas and guacamole - and small batch mezcal we can’t buy anywhere. Sit at the bar and talk to Joe during an off time, you won’t regret it.
