Cara Mia

I give them stars for attentive service and a generous pour of wine. But my GOD the food is not good. I'm not saying you can't play around with different recipes, but you can't call something a carbonara and then go way off script and make it with no Romano, no eggs, black pepper, and PUT ONIONS IN IT. I can't even think about it without getting upset.

Nice Italian restaurant with a good Fixed Price menu option. The Tiramisu dessert is pretty good. Highly recommend it.

January 21, 2019, it was 17 degrees with a biting wind for a 20 minute walk to Cara Mia, and it was worth it. Pictured here is the calamari with portobello appetizer. I never thought to combine them and it was fantastic. I also had the Cesar with anchovies and the branzino. The branzino came on a bed of grilled zucchini and eggplant with grilled broccoli on the side. the fish was grilled perfectly and the eggplant was not bitter. I loved it and will return.

Had the most wonderful meal with my family here back in January when we came to New York. Everything we ordered was delicious and the prices were fair. Definitely memorable. Will most certainly come back if I have the chance!

Great food and amazing service

I am unable to publish this review without giving it one star. If I could submit this without the STAR I WOULD. The place is cute inside. At first I thought the service would be great, not crowded at all. Well I was so wrong! After the waiter took our order he never returned to our table. As for the food, it was a great disappointment! The eggplant parm , Ceaser salad and shrimp scampi were tasteless. Portions were very small. Ceaser salad dressing was sour, shrimp was bland and Eggplant parmigiana was just not good!

Cara Mia has a great lunch special. I am a fan of the chicken parm

Best Italian dinner i had so far in NY. Good prices and food was to die for. Don't hesitate to ask for any homemade pasta dish and tiramisu or creme brulee for desert!

Celebrated new years eve at this restaurant. So much fun. Food was great, service even better.

Staff is sooo slow. Food was meh, small portions for larger prices. I kept having to call waiter over. This is a salad we got to go. SO MUCH GARLIC it was disgusting. This is not joke a salad on their menu and they gave us that much garlic. The location is in Hell's Kitchen, you can pretty much go anywhere in the area, but Cara Mia and find a well priced meal and not feel disgusted after.

This many generation Italian restaurant does not stand out on the street, and that's good because I want to keep it a secret. Best home made pasta's I ever tasted, the chef truly knows what he is doing and must be incredibly creative. Fresh tagliatelle with pumpkin-shrimp, or the asparagus-pea ravioli I walk an extra mile for these!

Great food, great service, beautiful setting. I had one of the homemade pastas (spinach) with mushrooms and it was delightful. The homemade sangria is EXCELLENT. Highly recommend. This place made me so happy! We sat in front of the open door watching the street traffic. Great all around. Pro tip: All menu items are not homemade pasta.

*Had the worst NYE experience there*. Got Bamboozled into purchasing a New Year's Eve package which included three-course meal open bar on a wine champagne and beer. At the end of the mediocre dining experience we were asked to pay taxes and tip which was okay except they try making us pay taxes and tip on a higher amount then was this close to us. My party of six along with almost everyone at the restaurant was alarmed and not happy with this bait and switch tactic. I will never go there again I would never recommend anyone to go there the food was not good total tourist trap.

Food was good and waitress was helpful but we used a pulsd voucher and our bill wasnt itemized so we paid a flat tax and 20% tip on $92. Had we eaten there regularly the amount would have been much lower. Will never go back with all the better Italian restaurants out there.
