I had actually educated our cook that I didn't like uni (strange, I recognize), and also when it came time for the uni nigiri, they asked me if I would such as amaebi rather. I gladly obliged, and the chef proceeded to catch a real-time sweet shrimp from the container with which he prepared most likely THE BEST as well as best amaebi nigiri I've ever had. The solution: alert web servers, and the chefs are amazing individualities, likewise very type and friendly.

The best in San Diego by far. We travel to Japan often and this is the closest quality, service and authenticity you will get here in San Diego. I love that it is family run (daughters and wife run the front of the house) while Soichi makes the sushi. Omakasi is the way to go meaning chefs choice. They also have very unique small batched sakes that are incredible.

They are back open and I luckily got a reservation for Saturday evening. There is no bar seating at the moment however I got a table right in front of the sushi chefs so I could see everything as always the food was exquisite

It's more of a 4.5 review. Very good food, and very friendly staff and very personable chef. $125 before tax and tip for the omakase offering was a little more than what I would've liked paying, but everything was delicious and would never tell anyone not to go. Best sushi in the neighborhood by far!

Such an amazing experience going to Soichi. The food was exceptional and the owners/staff were very kind. We had an issue with our reservation getting cancelled (because Yelp is trash) but the owners fixed it for us and everything was great. The waitresses took great care of us. I'm dreaming of the next time I can go and taste their sushi again. Such a San Diego gem - you must go!

Probably more of a special occasion/splurge place for most people due to the price (us included), but to sum it up: delicious, filling, intimate, friendly, and well paced (you can order nigiri one by one, but pretty sure most people who come there do one of the fixed meal options). Looking forward to the next time we decide to spoil ourselves!

Nice place. Whoa. Time warp channeling memories of Jethro Tull. I met another customer at the sushi bar, a girl actually named Cross-Eyed Mary; and for good reason... She couldn't pick up or hold anything, yet she still managed to stab me with her chopsticks. Now we refer to that chance meeting as our first date. Oh yeah, almost forgot.. ... great sushi, too.

Great sushi place. The fish was super fresh and super tender, like ice cream. Sake selection was very interesting and diversified. Only downside: its price! I don't mind paying for exceptional sushi but I thought it was a bit overpriced and expensive.

Can’t say enough of this small Omakase sushi bar. Might have bar seating for around 10 people. Fantastic service. Incredible fresh sushi prepared by masters right in front of you. Haven’t had sushi this good outside of Japan. Great variety of fish and flavours. I did the omakase tasting menu which really filled me up. At the price point this place is amazing. I would highly recommend. Please follow my foodie adventures @doctoreeat

Best sushi in San Diego by far. The $125 omakase is amazing. Chef Soichi also did the construction of his restaurant and the decor is bomb. His wife and 3 daughters were working on Friday night and they were adorable and sweet. They serve premium filtered alkaline water that makes a huge difference. Chef Daniel made the homemade ice cream and the sesame, yam and green tea ice cream I got for my birthday were phenomenal. Also took a picture of the CD of Soichi's band. He sang me happy birthday on the guitar and he's a good singer too. Definitely a fan. Met some fantastic people there too tonight. We followed Chef Soichi from Sushi Tadokoro and now we have a new sushi home.
