Buttermilk Channel

The food can be pricey but one is entitled to treating oneself from time to time. The apple slices add an interesting texture and a sweetness to complement the bacon and cheese in the ABC grilled cheese sandwich. The ambiance is good and my compliments to the cleanliness of the restroom.

This is a super homey place. There was a line at opening when we arrived, but everyone managed to get a table. The staff did a great job corralling everyone in one-by-one to keep the air-con under control inside, We saw a lot of families - so definitely child-friendly at least at brunch (there were crayons at the table). I found the place to be a bit dark and I wish there was more natural light. The food was rich and buttery. My favourites were the sticky bun, the biscuits (though a bit dense) and the French toast. That French toast with the bourbon sauce was just amazing.

Buttermilk Channel is a warm and charming New York American restaurant in the heart of Brooklyn's Carroll Gardens. The food is elevated without being stuffy while the service avoids the often pretentious "too cool for school" service found in other neighboring hot spots. The signature dish is the Fried Chicken and Waffle. Its tremendously good, but don't let this comfort food staple summarize your thoughts on the total experience. The rest of the menu is brilliantly executed, thoughtful and polished. Dishes evolve with the seasons keeping it interesting enough to make the trip again and again.
