The details!!! They have the details that make this restaurant special. Great food, drinks & staff! Best sourdough in my opinion.. and that’s just the beginning of the meal.

Incredible dining experience! The atmosphere is unlike any other and gives off a real cool vibe. We’ve been here a few times now and we continue to have amazing experiences. We decided to bring our own wine this time and the options were a $50 corkage fee or the fee was waived if you chose to share a glass with another table. We were more than happy to share (plus the server didn’t pour a whole lot in the third glass) so we opted to share with another table. Our service was impeccable and the food was out of this world. We ordered the petite duchess filet (6 oz.) and the short rib stroganoff...which was out of this world. We also ordered the truffle Mac and cheese and broccoli, which were both insanely tasty! We didn’t save much room for dessert but this was by far one of the best meals/experiences we’ve had! Can’t wait to come back again!

An amazing steakhouse in Chicago! They have a really interactive BYOB policy. You can bring a standard size bottle of wine (750ml) per two people. If you want to avoid the corking fee all you have to do is share a glass with another table. We sent a glass out and we received a glass. It was such a fun experience! We started with the baked crab cake which was phenomenal, the sauce was perfect. We ordered the classic ribeye chicago cut and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was tender and juicy. The loaded baked potato was the perfect side. We also received a free ice cream since we were dining in for my birthday.Definitely recommend this steakhouse in Chicago and I would eat here again if I ever go back to visit!

Not only is it the best steak in Chicago but the atmosphere was perfect and the service was excellent. I really can't say enough about this place. Forget the rest of the so called "great" Chicago steakhouses.

Sides were awesome. The steak was a bit over cooked. Had a great time

Fantastic experience! Service, atmosphere and food was a 5 star experience. One of the best places in the country. I will make a reservation every trip to Chicago.

Bavette's has some of the best steak in the city. Great location in River North too! Really nice cocktails and you can BYO wine too. They waive the corkage fee if you're willing to 'donate' a glass of your wine to another table, a nice touch that adds to the ambience of the place.

Passable steak house - although Chicago offers many other, superior choices. Dark atmosphere, ultra low lighting, cramped seating.Neither a memorable experience nor good value.

Dark, speakeasy decor and vibe. Excellent food and trust your waiter’s recommendations. Wedge salad was NOT your typical wedge and a must-try. Don’t fill up on bread!! Very generous with their drinks. Highly recommend!

Dry-aged bone in ribeye was superb. Loved the crispy outer texture. I don't think I've ever had a steak that was so evenly cooked & seasoned throughout, which made each successive bite as good as the last. The steak comes with some kind of steak sauce on the side and you also have the choice of adding butter, garnish/toppings but I would just skip all that - the ribeye tasted amazing as-is!

Incredible restaurant! The jazz flowing through adds to the atmosphere. It's a wonderful place to celebrate life and special occasions. Our server Mike helped with our menu choices and the wine pairings. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Chicago! Come hungry, leave happy!

My brother and I went for a Christmas Dinner which is our annual tradition , to pick a restaurant to try from my friend’s suggestions. The experience was different from the reviews we’ve read . It took so long for us to be greeted and have our water glasses get filled . The salad arrived fast but the entree’s took so long and no one came to explain why it’s taking so long . We waited so long for people to pass by in our table when we were done already and for us to get a dessert menu but we decided for our food just to be boxed instead because we tried our best to get the attention of the employees but no one was around to check how we’re doing even though we were done with our plates like for 15 minutes... after paying, we had to wait again for couple minutes for the check... food is good, but service is just okay as someone who works in the industry and a foodie.

Food at its finest! I've been here several times and it NEVER disappoints. From the fresh baked sour dough bread, to the melt in your mouth steaks, you will not be disappointed. Make reservations otherwise you could be in for a long wait!

Loved our visit. Was exceptional in all regards, food was by far the best I've had in the city of Chicago so far. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Questions & Answers

They validate parking at the garage on Wells

Definitely the parlor

Not sure. Give them a call to confirm. ?

Wine selection frequently updates.

They don't have valet anymore. You park at the garage at 401 Wells (Mart Parc) for a discount rate and give the host your ticket to validate before you leave Bavette's

I think 8 is the most. Their sister restaurant next door, Gilt, is better for large parties (we had 20 there).

Not entirely sure what your asking (you may want to reread your post), but to my knowledge they only have one set menu. Though if you're asking if they'll sign a menu as a take away for a birthday I'm sure they probably would, but a direct call will get that answered for you very quickly.

Yes. It is BYOB but the corking fee is a glass of wine for another table.

I believe it's mart parc orleans parking lot.

I'm sure if you call them before hand and explain it's your birthday they won't have an issue
