Wollensky's Grill

Food are good but service is not so much our waiter was not good and not friendly at all

We read great reviews about the Grill (which is the more casual and "cheaper" option to Wollensky's upstairs). Much of the seating faces the river and the river walk. So fun to see the boats going by and to people watch. Restaurant has their own menu but you can also order from the menu upstairs as well. Great selection of steaks, seafood, salads, etc. Good bar menu. But it's expensive! Just warning you --- And we had our kids with us and nothing really appealed. We cobbled together a couple of things but for the price, not the best place to bring kids. Lesson learned. Our servers were friendly, attentive and accommodating. Our food was delicious but rich. They brought the dessert menu and wow! It was hard to walk away from it but we were stuffed. If you are in the River North part of the city, consider this for dinner or lunch.

I really enjoyed my meal and drinks at Wollensky's. We were at a conference that held a dinner there so it was buffet stations and waiters with various trays running around. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and had an excellent flavor. The lamp chops were absolutely perfect. I had a lobster corndog which was interesting to say the least. They made a fine whiskey sour and old fashioned.

We opted to eat at Wollensky's Grill on an overnight stay in Chicago. For appetizers we had jumbo shrimp (amazing) and calamari (fried and drowning in oil- not great). For mains we had filet (great) and rib eye (average- had a lot of fat in it which ruined it). The waiter was friendly and the cocktails were good too.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. Superb dining, unbelievable, impeccable dishes, outstanding service. We had a large party, ten people including children, and we were all made to feel welcome and attended to. Tastefully decorated, well laid out, and well lit. No pics because I was too busy savoring every bite and enjoying the ambiance with my group. Ten stars.

We had another dinner at Wollensky's restaurant and were very disappointed comparing our first dinner a few months ago that was great...Carlos our waiter was doing a lousy job, not paying attention to us! our bill for two was only $214.08 before tip!!! The waiter was ignoring us most of the time. Long wait time.He served us plates that were not great, but never asked us our feedback.Scallops were full of sugar! how is it possible?We will not try this place anymore. We want constant quality in restaurants we visit.Sounds like this chain of restaurant is not paying attention to the quality provided to their customers all year around....maybe adjusting and counting only on touristic frequentation?

What a special dinner! Everything from the service to the food was over the top. The wedge salad is simple but done amazingly. The steak was dry aged to perfection and added such deep flavors. The crab legs we fresh and a special bonus. Would really recommend a seat by the window!

Ordered the potroast and It was good.

We visited with a large group of 17 which included 5 kids under 5 and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. They brought fresh fruit for the kids to snack on and even brought little dishes of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for the infant in the group. Because of the excellent service, we stayed longer than we planned and were able to thoroughly enjoy our meals, which were also fantastic.

Beautiful view, friendly staff and the food is awesome.

Do yourself a favor and order yourself a Gershwin cocktail. Makers Mark, chamomile, elderflower, honey and lemon. Foi Gras burger was delicious and service was excellent. The grill is located on the lower portion of Wollenskys under the patio with views of the Chicago River. We celebrated a birthday here and got this massive piece of cake (see photos) that 3 adults and a five year old could not finish.
