Willalby's Cafe

Willaby's is worth the sometimes brutal wait to get one of their 6 tables or coveted bar seats. The Fair Oaks skillet is to-die-for though. This is my favorite breakfast joint in all the world. The indoors is kitschy, they only take cash, the bathrooms are downstairs and scary as hell, but their hashbrowns are always on point.

Willalby's is a neighborhood staple with friendly staff, humble-but-quirky decor, and a very solid breakfast offering. They have classic diner fare, but with a home-cooked, rather than a greasy-spoon taste. The omelets are a treat. The pancakes are also very tasty, but enormous. Try getting one for the table to share.

Authentic is the best word for Willalby's, and wonderful is right there beside it. It is straight up Willy Street - nothing to dilute it! Combination of booths and counter service - with a smile : )Cash only, so plan ahead, but there's an ATM if you need it. We love to order the veggie omelette and the French toast and then share - oh so delicious instant brunch. Ask for extra butter : )

Reasonably priced breakfast classics and good coffee. They only accept cash but that's no problem due to the ATM they have in the back.

Great diner to leisurely sip your coffee, have your eggs and potatoes, and read the isthmus. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options as well. My personal favorite is the fair oaks skillet, but their breakfast sandwiches are also good if you're looking for something smaller. Very laid back neighborhood joint, don't go if you're in a hurry.

Fantastic food. Excellent price. My husband and I went on a whim and we were definitely impressed. This is a small place with big taste. When they say the pancakes are as big as your plate and not your saucer, they're not joking around. I'd have to say this is the best breakfast joint in town.

First off let me just say anytime you go to a place that is cash only you almost have to expect the food to be great. Willalby’s does NOT disappoint! My only regrets about this place is that I have not walked by it sooner. Great food, incredible portion sizes, and the servers are very friendly. I was beyond pleased with my experience here and will be back. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal at affordable prices!

This charming breakfast stop is a great time warp with it's wood paneling and plethora of unicorn pictures. It's small and simple. The food is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly and engaging. A special shout out to Natalie who handles the fast pace with a smile and laugh!

Friendly service, decent portions, good mysic (subjective more so than food). Definitely worth checking out. My wife had a pancake and I had the huevos rancheros. Would go again. She's picky about her pancakes and she loved how hers had a slight crisp to it.

Cash only! Other than that this place was great- pancakes bigger than your face, awesome staff, highly recommend.

My favorite comfy diner in Madison. It's not so busy even on weekends but still so so good, and the people who work there are kind and lovely. Get the huuuuge pancakes and a cute bottomless mug of diner coffee, perfect breakfast for pretty darn cheap. Also, me and my girlfriend are still a little nervous going to neighborhood places on dates (even in madison) but Willalby's is like your small time diner but actually nice and queer.

This was my Sunday morning breakfast spot, but recent changes in staff and bad cooks have made it an ok place to go. A breakfast place should be able to do an egg over easy with out breaking the eggs, also should be able to do a simple omelet of mushrooms, cheese and garlic.
