Walter's Coffee Shop

Rainy and cold is a rare treat in Miami. That made for a breakfast out at Walter's. The service was great and the food had all the comfort you want on such an overcast day. I had the Southern Benedict with Grits. It was delicious!! The corn beef hash was cooked perfectly. That with the eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy had a nice balance of flavor and texture. As for the coffee, well that can improve but I go there for the food.

Hubby and I just left Walters and we are very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful, great job with the upgrades. Service was great , our waiter Chris, did not miss a beat. He informed us about their weekly specials, and karaoke. We’ll definitely return to check out karaoke and take advantage of their happy hour. Now the food ; Wow! Dinner was amazing!! From the presentation to the taste, definitely 5 stars. I had The honey garlic chicken and hubby had the meatloaf entree, both were so delicious. 😋 We will also return to try the other entrees and have some drinks. FYI: they do have a full bar. Very affordable.This place is perfect for date night, Dimmed lights while you enjoy some jazz in the background. You don’t have to drive to the Gables or Brickell . You will not be disappointed!*BTW we visit Walters for Breakfast and lunch . Never disappoints.

"Coach's Special" breakfast hit the spot! When stuck at the car dealership for a car repair, they recommended Walter's as a great (within walking distance) breakfast joint. Walter's service was friendly and attentive. The "Coach's Special" (corn beef hash) was delicious. The country music was at the perfect background level of volume, soft enough to easily talk over but loud enough to actually hear the songs, too. The coffee was hot and smooth tasting (but a little weak).

Today I have to bring Walter's down a few stars. We used to really enjoy the time here but lately the service has dropped a lot. My opinion is that the focus is on turning tables not service now. The staff are reduced, I assume to max staff tipping but the customer is the one that suffers.Food is good, not crazy awesome but worth the price.Last 2 experiences: Server came to our table 2 times in 45 min...2 times. Answer: Sorry we are really busy...so Walter owner...get more staff on the busy shifts!Last time: Not busy stopped for lunch...the server left the shift and no one took over... I HAD TO ASK TO PAY!Come on....staff are flying around to turn tables and barely say hello, drop food and never a check back..then when you leave...no "come on back" or "have a good day" they instead are focused on prebussing the table for the next group.

I agree the service has gone down! The food still good but they have to work on that. I expect more from a family place! I now make sure when I arrive to put me with the people that service the hell out of there area and TIP them well when I leave! PERIOD!

This was a nice place we went to for breakfast. Everyone was very nice and attentive, it’s a cozy spot, with a local feel. The food was very good. Would here eat again.

For a diner the food is good here, but the service isn't the greatest. If you ask for a cup of coffee don't expect to get a stir or a spoon to mix your sugar or milk with. Asking for such a thing is apparently unheard of. When I did ask for one it was like looking at a deer in headlights, with no response. How about just providing one along with your coffee to avoid an attitude? I saw it time and time again. Many of the patrons using their fork or knife to mix their coffee. Dont get wrong, I started to get an attitude myself with my simple ask, but I did change my tune and let the small stuff not get to me. When my order came, the food was warm and the runner was pleasant. My server later followed up and asked if we needed anything else and my Walter experience ended on a positive note. Just beware of a simple ask at this establishment.

The food was really good, a lot of food and good prices. The staff was also very nice and attentive. One place I can take my kids without any complaints. 🙂

It was a great place to eat. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes to order and the environment was great. I'd definitely recommend this place for a great breakfast.

Heard great things about Walter’s. Can’t attest to their food or quality. Only my experiences....Tried having lunch there twice. First attempted visit - Walked in, place looked empty. Lady approached me and said they were close and having an employee meeting. Second attempt 1/greeted at door by a young lady. She asked about my sitting preference, sat me on a high top. I waited 5 minutes, no one came to take my order and walked out unnoticed. Walked across the parking lot into GREEK HOUSE KITCHEN. Welcomed upon entering and had a delicious lunch. Walters might have great food, which can’t be paired with poor customer service or, as in my case no customer service.

This place is awesome. It puts Denny's and IHOP to shame. Not to mention the portions are huge, they don't cheap out. They have a great selection of beer and their service is really fast. All around one of my new favorite places to eat at!

I cannot speculate about why my experience at the restaurant was so bad. The place was not busy at all, i think 4 peoples at the bar and 2 tables on the floor plus us. Although the flavor of the Burger was good, the rest was horrible. The food took more than expecting a lot more, the sweet potatoes were overcooked, the fries were uncooked. We ask for some items with the food and they were missing. And finally when we ask for the check to one of the only person we saw on the floor, she ask us if we knew who was our servers... honestly I said no she didn't introduce herself or have been around enough to recognize her face. Then some sense came to her and she responded by I will find out, wow!!! To conclude, I said that 13y of my life I used to be a waitress. I have an AA in hospitality and not because I drink hot tea I was going to leave bad tip for the contrary the fact that I know the industry make recognized and appreciated the service. Unfortunately Not this one.

Great place. Lots of different options to choose from. Shella is an amazing server. Ask for her! She will take good care of you.

Great service and food was great. I really enjoy the Walter club sandwich. The waitress was friendly and brought our food very quickly. Overall a great experience.

We went to Walter's the other day for lunch. We sat outside for about 20 mins. They finally came out to get our drink order. The food did take some time to come out. But when it did it was really good. Everyone was happy with there food. I would say that they need to keep more of an eye on there tables. Other then that over all goid food.
