This was our first visit here and I really would like to give a higher rating, as we really enjoyed our food and our time here. However, the ordering process is a bit chaotic when it is busy and resulted in our large party having to stand in several different lines all getting our meals at wildly differing times. This meant that some were completely done their meals before others even got theirs. Thus unless you don't mind this, it doesn't work well for a group of more than four at most. Otherwise the food was very good and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals.

I had the basil pesto pasta and it tasted good. Prices were reasonable

First time dining in. Seemed a bit confusing at first, but easily managed with my boyfriend. Food was great and I want more already!

I tried chicken Alfredo pasta and I added some broccoli and mozzarella cheese and it was perfectly made as Exactly what I wished to get!!!! I feel bad for not asking the chef about his name to write it here as he was great at making my own pasta !!! Also, they have different types of homemade sauces and they are so great and delicious with the bread it was warm crispy outside soft warm inside, PERFECT !!!! Like extremely good!!! Especially the sauce with orange juice I guess “ I don’t know the name of that sauce “ but it’s so good like so good Overall, my experience here was extremely nice and this restaurant became my best Italian restaurant in DC !!!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

The food here is great and very affordable the staff is really nice. The pasta is made fresh daily and all of the garnish is fresh. I really like how there is an actual basil and oregano plant at each table that you can pluck fresh leaves off to put into your food. When you leave they give you Haribo gummy bears which is a nice touch.

The food was great! This is a fast casual restaurant, but also some of the best Italian you'll get while on the go downtown. The atmosphere is fun, and it's nice to watch the chefs prepare you food right before you eyes. I highly recommended the pesto basillico and the caprese pasta dishes, they are superb! Also, the bread is amazing and a bonus. Grazie, Vapiano!

While the food is good, the setup of this place seems very disorganized and frustrating at times. You have to stand in a queue at different counters based on what you want to order. It's hard to tell if anyone is servicing that counter and after waiting at a counter for a few minutes, you may find out that no one is servicing that counter which means you have to join the end of a queue at another counter. It's a real silly system since it takes forever to get your food if there's a lot of crowd. Additional, while the food was good, they mostly fill your bowl with pasta and very little meat making it hard to justify the high prices at this place.

First time. Different type of restaurant than I expected. It is almost like Chipotle where you walk up to the cook and request what you want versus waiting for a server at the table. Delicious pasta! They also serve pizza and salad. Definitely visiting again. Another interesting thing is that they give you a card that you scan at the grill once you get your food. Thought it was neat way of keeping tabs. Friendly staff.Just a FYI, was told that this location is less busy compared to the one on M Street.Only thing I that I found unpleasant was the smell of the bathroom due to it maybe being by the kitchen/food storage area in the basement. (Not that it should take away anything from the restaurant) Maybe an air freshener will do.P.S. Sorry about the pics. Food looked so good that I started eating before I could take pictures! (hehe)

I like how they make the food in front of you. So everything is fresh. The chefs are super friendly and the shop has a huge variety of food and drinks.

Stopped in here on our family trip to D.C. and I'm glad we did. It was my first time trying Vapiano & I will definitely look for others. At first I thought we didn't have enough food but to .y surprise we couldn't finish our meals. The food had great flavor and was well worth the money.

While in DC, you need to try it! The food is fresh and it is masterfully prepared! The atmosphere is inviting and you have plenty of room for yourself and friends! It is easily accessible and it is in walking distance from almost anywhere from the center of DC!! Enjoy!!

Excellent customer service, great appearance but underwhelming food quality. Bathroom needs to be clean.I wanted to answer under the owners response but there’s no option for that so I’ll do it here. I can’t give it another try because me and my boyfriend experienced stomachache and quickly rushed to the bathroom when we got home :( The food was very heavy & that’s why I wouldn’t go again.

We have been to a few vapiano restaurants over time and have always found the food to be nice, fresh and flavorful. The ambience is always bright and cheerful. This vapiano in Chinatown is very spacious and is just on the main Street. There is a small parking just in the corner before the restaurant (but the parking is expensive, but an option if you don't find street parking)

Questions & Answers

There is no buffet. They make the food in front of you. Max for 2 people is about $25

There is a parking garage next to a close by restaurant named Zaytinya. You can look for an alternative entrance to Chinatown/ Gallery Place metro. The parking garage is there. Street parking is tough to find. There is some parking on front of Verizon Center
