Umami Japanese Barbeque

Awesome food! Some say it’s a unique concept of cooking your own food but this is Japanese culture. I went every week for a couple of months while I was in japan and Umami brought back many wonderful memories. I am so happy it is so close to where I live and the food was fantastic. There wasn’t anything that wasn’t good or authentic tasting. The only downside is they charge a 7% food prep gratuity and then expect a gratuity for the server. It ends up being more costly than expected, but I will be back.

This place is so delicious. I lived in Japan for a while and have been waiting for a place line this to come to Utah. The taste is spot on. The service is phenomenal. I will be going back!

Umami Japanese Barbeque is located in the Yard Complex in Vineyard right across from the Megaplex movie theatres. It offers a buffet style of Japanese and Korean dishes. You cook all the meat selections on grill located at your table. It is a fun and unique experience. The selection of meats is a variety of high quality meats ranging from chicken, pork, beef and lamb. There is also a another cold buffet of food that doesn't need to be cooked. On this buffet there is soup, fruit, dumplings and shrimp.

SOOOOO good! Do yourself a favor and come here ASAP! You have a great selection of meats, a good selection of sauces for dipping, and more! The people working there are so nice and informative and it's all you can eat! There's no time limit or anything, and it's some high end meat! Definitely coming here again and again

A welcome change to Korean BBQ style restaurants where you go pick your own portions of meats to cook at your table. Flavors were great and atmosphere is nice.

My wife and I love Umami. We've been there multiple times, and the food is fantastic! It's fun cooking your own food, and there are cooked/prepared foods while you're waiting for your meat and/or vegetables to cook.Additionally, the bathrooms are kept very clean, which is important to me.

Absolute heaven 100%. Brought back some great memories from Japan. Best time to go is Saturday lunch as they otherwise reserve best cut of meats for evenings on weekdays. Totally worth it. Bring lots of good company as well. Ample seating and great interior finishes and decor.

Great food and service. If you call in please be patient with the staff no one likes social distancing but they're doing their best to adapt to the situation. Will visit again

The best date night! This place is so fun but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like meat. But if you like meat this place is amazing! You cook your own food at your table on the grill and it's all you can eat! $25 a person. It was delicious and such a unique experience we loved it!

Delicious food, fun experience. Only four people can fit around each cooking unit and even then it’s pretty small. Plan accordingly. If you have a large group it will be hard to mingle and enjoy all the food. It takes longer to eat since you are cooking everything at your table. They have a huge selection of meats and veggies to choose from.

Super disappointed in this place. I had high hopes before going but when we got there the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The salads looked stale/stagnant and did not taste fresh at at all. The meet was the same story, looked like a steak would look being left out all night. We sat on the bottom floor and whatever you do, don’t look behind you. The upstairs patrons shoes are inches from your head. Didn’t look like they swept the floor in quite some time. It was very unappetizing to look at all meal. Overall could have been great but ended up a big no for us.

They offered some Gluten Free items...my wife cannot have gluten and she loved!

I had my son's 23rd bday here last Saturday & it was amazing. Food was great, smokeless grills all worked & Evan was an accommodating host. It was a 50 minute drive but so worth it. Unlike other cook your own meat restaurants, you don't have to wait for the waiter/waitress to give you more meat, all the grills worked properly, & their so many tasty meats to choose from. Also love the tables chairs & decorations its a great restaurant. I'm definitely coming back again & will recommend to everyone!

I’ve eaten at this delightful restaurant several times since it opened. Let’s put it this way: I lived in Tokyo for several years, and Umami is a better Yakiniku Tabehodai than anywhere I ate over there, bar none. The best, premium variety of meats, lots of great grilling treats, and a fun, unique experience.

This place was amazing! Awesome concept, tons of options and it was yummy.
