This place gives amazing service and enjoyable menu. One of my favourite places around town. The drinks and food served quickly and the rates are inexpensive. Recommended.

I admire this place very much. there is a special spirit. The food is superb. the service is dynamic and the personel is trained. The price is decent. very much recommend.

Great environment for small to medium sized groups (think 6 or less). The sushi was fresh and the seaweed salad was out of the world! We had a reservation on a Friday night and we were seated immediately and when we left there was a fair sized line. The only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars is the waitress, she was the human version of pop up ad. She randomly show up out of no where and and put her face right beside yours and then loudly ask if everyone at the table was having a good time. It was just.... super strange....

Loved the food and the atmosphere. We had the Mexicans maki (at the waitress's suggestion), tempura udon and katsu kare. It wasn't crowded for lunch (we arrived 15 min after opening and were seated immediately). It did start getting a bit livelier around 12:30 when we left. I'd totally come here again!

This spot sure knows how to serve their customers. Consistently with a kind mindset. The food is conveniently priced, constantly fresh and clean.

Always stop at Umai when I'm in Chicago and I'm never disappointed! Make sure to try the green tea creme brulee!

We live nearby and have always walked passed this restaurant that's always busy thinking to give it a try. Glad we walked in, this place has a great ambiance and good food. We tried the neyebaki and Tempura udon bowls and enjoyed the meals. Very flavorful and beautifully presented. The chili oil we asked for on the side gave a great kick . The green tea we ordered was also very flavorful, not like the green tea in the sachets, this was more matcha like. Would definitely recommend this place to a family and friend.

We had a superb time in this spot. We enjoyed the first-rate ambience and the meals. The staff members are very welcoming. I am happy we ultimately managed to try this restaurant.
