Interesting to see the middling reviews! Especially since my friend and I both agreed that this is one of the better coffee shops we've visited in Japan. Both of us ordered the Vienna Coffee (one hot, one iced), and taking one sip prompted an expression on our faces that's usually only reserved for folks who have experienced an intense change in worldly fortune.Kohikan Cafe's "gimmick" is that their coffee is charcoal-roasted, which, deprived of any further information than that, somehow results in a coffee that is unusually smooth, with its bitterness and acidity toned down drastically. The cafe itself is located in the food court of the Tsudanuma Aeon, which means the atmosphere won't exactly be as docile. But the service was wonderful, and even though the coffee was slightly on the pricier side (around 560 yen), it definitely was not unreasonable considering the quality. In fact, we are already trying to work a return trip into our schedules.
