The Whaling Company

The service was great and the Whalers Platter was pretty good. The platter only includes one cod plank and one crab cake and the majority was popcorn shrimp. The first time we ordered this platter there was a proportionate amount of all items.

We enjoyed dinner at The Whaling Company after a long day at the local water park. The restaurant is a casual seafood restaurant. The menu includes various land, sea, and pasta dishes. The bread that was brought to the table was decent. I had scallops which were broiled in a delicious white wine butter sauce. I had broccoli and red potatoes on the side which were plain, but tasted much better when dipped in the white wine and butter sauce. The dessert menu has various homemade pies and cakes. We ordered the mud pie which was a massive piece of ice cream pie... Massive enough for the table to share and to satisfy all of our ice cream cravings.

They are opened on Christmas day with volunteer staff. The service was extra ordinary and the seafood as fresh as it gets. What a lovely experience. Reservations only on Christmas Day so call ahead and cross your fingers!

Had to give the king crab legs a try. WOW. Delicious. The bartender and waitress were top notch, we had zero issues. Place is outdated but that's okay. Will be back soon.

Such a kind staff served us, and wonderful tasting seafood was had. The restaurant had a delightfully decorated interior and we felt very comfortable taking our time to eat and even received some vacation tips from our server.

We have been coming here on trips from the west coast for years. The food is excellent and the staff friendly. The flounder, Idaho trout and french onion soup are favorites of mine. Prices are a bit below the average, making this an even better experience . The flounder is pictured below.

Overall good experience. Seemed like decent prices. Most of the food was pretty good - lemon herb chicken, rice, Caesar salad, shrimp salad, and trout were all good. The crab dip was alright and the appetizer crab cake was not very good, not sure if it was real crab meat. We are from Maryland so we may be a bit biased in the crab department.

Very enjoyable experience. New York strip was prepared perfectly. Delicious crab dip. Salmon was excellent. Our server, Sonny was fantastic. Will definitely be back when in the area again.

I have nothing but positive things to say about The Whaling Company. The atmosphere was whale-coming and the service was phenomenal. Sonny and Eddie were very attentive and friendly and made the entire experience 10 out of 5 stars. The food was delicious as well, I had the Sonny's Delight and my husband had the Stuffed Flounder; We couldn't get over how delicious it all was! Definitely a diner you want to go if you are in the Williamsburg or surrounding areas! Will definitely visit again!
