The Restaurant at The Durham
About
- 4 ( 43 reviews)
The Restaurant at The Durham is an American restaurant led by James Beard Award-winning chef Andrea Reusing. From breakfast to dinner, Chef Reusing and her team offer an ever-evolving, deeply flavorful menu based on ingredients sourced primarily from North Carolina farms, fisheries, and ranches including house dry-aged steaks, pristine local seafood and vegetable-forward small plates designed for sharing. The airy glass-walled space features striking mid-century design and the jewel-box back bar pours biodynamic/natural wines from small family producers, creative cocktails, and smart collection of local beer.

Amazing space- you don't see rooms like this anymore, and it's a great throwback to mid-century. The food was excellent, too, particularly the sides and grilled fish. Where this restaurant really excels, however, is at very sneaky, criminal valets. Hats off to the guy who was smart enough to steal my sunglassses but leave the case so I wouldn't notice till the next morning! An immediate follow up call was met with sympathy and a promise to investigate, but that was ultimately lip service and nothing more. But if you're ubering there, more like 4 out of 5 stars.

Piping up as the reviews below seem like they must be referring to a different restaurant than the one I’ve experienced over multiple visits. The menu is thoughtful, execution of dishes nuanced; seasonal, local ingredients shine. Dining here has been the highlight of my last several visits to Durham. If you love to eat, this is where you should dine.
