Lovely pub with so much character. Very dog friendly with treats on the bar and water bowls. Staff are friendly and food is great.

Found this little gem by chance, lovely ambience with a log fire, cosy armchairs and exposed beams. Don't worry if you haven't booked, there is a bar seating area as well. Prompt and friendly service, yummy food and good portions.

Beautiful decor and pleasant atmosphere. The food is average and a bit bland. The service was very slow. This is place is probably best for a drink rather than a meal

I was in the area for the weekend and popped in for a light lunch. It was so good, we came back the next day too. It is a marvellous old building in exceptional condition, complete with dark beams, stained glass, and roaring fires. However, being so large and old, you do need a jumper inside in winter, though blankets are available for outside. The menu is diverse and caters well for gluten free and other dietary requirements. Menus available online. A really extensive range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks too. If you want a big table, it seems that booking is essential but there are smaller tables and armchairs in the bar and plenty of space in the garden weather permitting. The staff are lovely and everything is good quality but the building makes everything feel extra special.

Good food . Mixed pork and beef more than plenty on the plate. The child portions not much smaller than adult. Too full to have puddings but good selection. Excellent selection of ales. Better value than some in the area. Definitely will return.

Busy busy with festive lunches but we were served quickly with a smile - food was excellent. Lovely log fire. A great place.

Beautiful building, traditional pub food of a high standard. Staff friendly but a bit scattered. We didn’t get great service but it was very busy.

Used to visit regularly, but was aghast at the terrible food this trip. My soup was inedible as it was unbelievably salty, the beetroot houmous was horrible with nothing more than an earthy taste, no flavours at all. My companion had a steak and ale pie - no taste of steak or ale, only salt, the texture was unpleasant and the meat grisly. The staff are all very efficient and warm, it's a shame they're so let down by the kitchen.

Don't think so. The food really isn't up to par.

Call and talk to them. They will plan whatever you wish. Music events are often spectacular, usually with 3 courses. Explained on the website. Highly, so highly recommended.
