The Pretzel Shop

I was born and raised in Pgh. I moved to Ohio in 95 thinking nothing of it (me being a pretzel lover as a kid there was a guy who walked all over Carson st. Selling them out of his buggy /cart ) I go to one of the Malls see a pretzel booth (Aunt something) looking at there menus with a weird look on my face asked for a plain pretzel got what looked like one of those freezer looking pretzels (super pretzel) and it was greesie with butter i said to my friend THIS AIN'T A REAL PRETZEL . so now when I go visit my Mum (in MT Oliver ) the pretzel shop is a routine stop. And I usually buy about 75 (I got my kid's and nieces and nephew hooked on them) to take to Ohio and share.

Wow! How have I missed this gem before now? The shop is reminiscent of those kinds of small street shop bakeries you see all over larger cities like NY, Philly, Boston, etc. but the star here are the pretzels. I stopped around 3 in the afternoon. There were two guys ahead of me who seemed to have been here before and they ordered everything in the place. I bought a cinnamon sugar pretzel for the wife (which she claims is the best cinnamon sugar pretzel she’s ever had) and 4 regular salted pretzels for the rest of us. Later that night we popped the pretzels in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm them up, and they were soft like they’d just come out of the oven. Nice doughy bite and bready aroma with a hint of salt made for a deliciously pleasant snack. These are better than any soft pretzels I’ve ever had from Philly (and I’m originally from there!). So good! I will be back!!!

This place just keeps getting better and better....Pretzels are still Amazing...Also, plenty of options to go along with your traditional pretzel if need be....Please dont change a thing.....South Side Pretzel Shop is the BEST!!!

This is one of the best bakerys in Pittsburgh. The pretzels and pretzels sandwiches are what they are known for, but the cookies and muffins are great too. We always get trays for family parties and they are always a hit. Cash only!

Best hot dog I've ever had! Cream cheese dip was great!! I will go back alot!!

Secret Gossip: It was stated that the game "The Checkered Game of Life" was created via little doll houses toys and the map/globe. A brave Pittsburgh (Lawrencevillian) man knew and said L's up on Asian women for starting that doll house toys NEVER the fact it was on a globe. So they ALWAYS SWORE THEY DO THE ULTIMATE MONOPOLY

A truly unique place with a delicious product. It's tradition to pick up a giant new years pretzle or two, which people love based on how fast they are eaten. Have been coming here since I was a kid, and will continue to do so as long as I'm in Pittsburgh.

Tried for the first time today. Great sandwich, but the potato salad? Best I've ever had, next to Mom's. Judging by today's visit, I can't imagine you'd find any fault with them.

Wonderful Famous Pretzel sandwiches! Prices are very reasonable. Customer service is stellar. My Fave is Steak on a pretzel bun of course, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo!!

Awsome. Bakery stuff too! Lots of lovely twists and turns on pretzels with meat, cheeses, sandwiches. Hit them up for breakfast or lunch. Always fast, friendly. Going since 04.
