The Poplar Inn

Just had family takeout of their fish fry. That was the worst fish fry I've ever had anywhere. Coating seemed like a mix of beer-batter and breaded so was very thick and very dark so they likely left it in the drier too long, even the fish inside was dry and not flaky at all. Tarter sauce tasted like just mayonnaise with a little pickle relish, not enough citus or relish. Only decent thing was the potato pancakes, which were also over cooked, but had a good onion flavor. Won't be back.

We had reservations for 6. I was meeting my man for a special Valentines Day dinner. The staff was very accommodating. The place was decorated beautifully and the food was delicious. We left very satisfied with the service and the food. A special thanks to Jenna for letting me pay ahead so he wouldn't have to pay. My treat!!!!!!

The atmosphere upstairs is wonderful. We sat at the very cute and cozy bar and listened to a live piano player. It was great. The cocktails were great. My husband had the cranberry old fashioned and I had the pear and elderflower martini. Delicious! The food was just ok, but we were probably the last table of the night to be served, so maybe that's why. I will definitely go back and try it again. The service was also really great. So, that will bring me back, too.
