The Old Fashioned

Great take out today from a great restaurant. The food is great and they have the systems down for great delivery. Highly recommend this place. And although it was only take out, it does have cool decor and great vibe.

Oh my gosh, I am blown away. From the 150 beer menu (plus liquors), to the pages and pages of food to the amazing bar and wait staff. I will recommend this eatery time and time again. Thank you to the bar staff, and specially Kurt for making the experience one of a kind! This bartender literally drew us a map of the capital so we could find more places to eat and drink during the rest of our trip. The professionalism and perfectionism the bar staff was both refreshing and a once in a life time experience.

The Old Fashioned was featured in a Top 25 burgers in WI list and rightfully so. The cheese curds were lightly fried, breading comparable to WI State Fair. The burger was flame grilled and an explosion of flavor. We also ordered the prime rib sandwich which was also delicious. My husband and I were sharing and it was thoughtful that they split the entrees. The service was super fast and exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the Madison area.

This spot has superb service as well as tasty menu. My favourite restaurant around town. The meals came out quickly and the prices were affordable. I recommend this place.

Great food and service. Super fun place wis lots of “Iconic Wisconsin “ things. From bar signs to the wires and traditional bar snacks. Of course we had old fashions, there are many to choose from. The food was great the cheese curds were outstanding, made from real cheese curds. Would recommend to anyone. Should be 5 stars but the tables next to the door are ridiculous. People had to wear coats to eat. We refused to be seated here and the were understanding and sat us somewhere else after a short wait. I know they are trying to maximize space but in the wintertime, you should put these tables away.

Enjoyable atmosphere, alright prices for food, great prices for drinks. The corned beef hash was great quality, but the seasoning was mediocre in my opinion. Old fashioned drink was good and worth the price. Service gets hectic and our waitress forgot about us for about 15 minutes when we got there, so get their attention if you are in a hurry.

Food was good, but not excellent. The steak was cooked properly, but the seasoning was pretty nonexistent. A little bit of sea salt or something would have been good. Sample cheese platter was good to share. Coworkers salmon salad was excellent.

Absolutely amazing! We had the best customer service I have ever experienced and I would highly recommend. Shout out to the two employees working May 13th at 7:30, you rock! :)

The Old Fashioned is the best summary of Wisconsin in a restaurant. The beer selection is outstanding, the cheese curds are the best available, the food is top notch, and did I mention it is located on the beautiful capital square? Every time I come here I get something new and it is always fantastic. The old fashioned burger is my favorite but you cannot go wrong with any sandwich, brat, soup, or other delicious option. Get the old fashioned drink as well as they taste so good.

Traditional Madison and Wisconsin restaurant! unique experience! Lots of beer options and regional drinks! good place to sample regional cheeses and cheese curds. It is possible to buy local cheese and produce. few main course options. Trained and efficient staff. near the Capitol and other tourist spots.

It’s definitely a place to take visitors from out of town. For a busy place they treat you pretty well with service and quality of food. The lazy Susan’s are worth it. We arrived at about 5 on Saturday for a 45 minute wait. We entertained ourselves at the bar with a few seats to be had. When we left at 7 the wait was three hours. The good news is there are lots of great places you can walk to instead if the wait is too long.

Went here for Friday fish fry while in town visiting. Food and service were excellent, and was impressed with reasonable prices. Our party had cod, perch, and the bacon Mac n cheese. All were delicious with large portions. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately this place seems to have gone down hill. The space is great, tons of beers, and yes, the cheese curds are fantastic. The rest of our meal not so much. I used to eat here a few times a month but it's not the same anymore. 5 star service and location, food last night was 2 stars. Stick to the bar and it'll be great!

This is an excellent spot for lunch or dinner in downtown Madison. They have a good variety of dishes on their menu and the food is always fresh. It has a cool vibe inside and the wait staff was very helpful and attentive. I'm never disappointed when I come here, and don't forget to order dessert!

Meals are consistently good here. Many bloody mary options for bunch, and in good Wisconsin fashion you get a beer chaser. The elderflower mimosa is my favorite. As the name indicates, the Old Fashions are also great here. Try one of the cheese plates, there are many great options to try from. Always enjoy hanging out here, it's warm and inviting.
