My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful lunch today. We enjoyed a chance meeting with the honorable senator from Maine beforehand. Attentive and yet unobtrusive service, perfectly cooked steak and rich cheesecake.

Gross, overly priced location. Often some politician shows up. Not a place to check out.

A Washington classic, The Monocle is a combination of power politics venue, superb food and a touch of Greek influence. Service is excellent, the bar cozy, and the politician portraits on the wall bring to life the history of Capitol Hill. Crab cakes, seafood bisque, and lamb chops are all recommended.

Great food, great service, and an awesome atmosphere. The steak is tender and juicy, and the house cocktails are quite tasty.

The heirloom tomato & burrata appetizer with house-made basil vinaigrette was very tasty. The delicous blue crab cake was a generous portion of nicely seasoned lump crab meat. The lamb chops were also delicious. The wine selection was very good. The service was prompt and professional. Excellent ambiance with a nicely decorated dining room accented with signed photos of well-known politicians.

I have passed this place thousands of times and never considered going in because it looks like some place that politicians and lobbyists would frequent. It is, but normal humans are allowed as well. The staff there was great, very personable. Ameen was our server and I have never met a nicer restaraunt employee. The food was delicious. It is an old school place in all the best ways. My wife and I loved it and we will return.

I’ve worked on Capitol Hill for ten years and heard so much about The Monocle, but I’ve never had the chance to experience this steakhouse until this week. The Monocle is family owned and operated. You can find it steps away from the Senate Buildings. You never know who you might be sitting next to here whether its an ambassador or your very own elected official from the House of Representatives or The Senate. The menu is fairly standard as far as steakhouses go. I got the Ginger Manhattan to drink to start, followed by The tuna tartare. Next, I got the jumbo crab cake and a bowl of the jambalaya. For dessert I got the chocolate triomph cake. Everything was incredibly good! I can’t stress that enough!!I had the chance to talk with the owner and some of the staff. Everyone could not of been anymore friendly and hospitable. My orders were brought out to me quickly and correctly. As for the restaurant itself. It’s kept impeccably clean. Definitely check out The Monocle!

Very near the Capitol. TIP: Try the Kennedy 60, a chamoagne with elderberry. We each had filet mignon, and one came out overdone. They made it right and brought another cooked perfectly. Not the best steaks ever, but very good. Salads were good. Attorney General Sessions came in while we were there, but you barely noticed him or his detail.

Lunch was great, local ale, NY strip and fries. Service was too. Dessert was "just OK".Still happy to come back.
