The Matinee

It is what it is, a dive bar with character. The drinks are cheap but good for you. The perfect place to meet friends who hate to go downtown to empty their wallets.

I hit up this dive bar while visiting Akron. If I lived here, and felt like going out, I would probably hang out here. No frills, reasonable prices, crowd seemed nice, live DJ played rock music.

Low expensive beer. Variety of music. Why it's got my attention.

A special place in Akron, you have to develop the for a unique atmosphere. The subs next to it are awesome!

Monday karaoke is a great time, the people are friendly, drinks are strong, and Highland Square is one of the best places to have a night out or explore in all of the Akron area.

Fun fantastic friendly bartenders. They are quick to serve and care about their patrons. Drinks are priced reasonably. If you want a comfy “dive bar” atmosphere that isn’t actually a dive bar, this is it! With the addition of the new pool table, this is hands down my favorite bar to drink at. Other patrons here are friendly as well! A good mixed crowd. Karaoke night is fun here too.

Cheese and chongs is the new name and they have great Mac and cheese options

Call local whole in the wall bar. More for hmm hipsters

What great bar and venue

The best day to go here is Christmas Day, when the fabulous Missile Toe plays.

Excellent music!

Attached to Zubs so that's a bonus, beer selection is pretty good, usually good ones rotating on draft, I go late night for the karaoke and tall shots

I prefer Annabell's because I don't have a mustache. Not a bad place to hang out when it isn't crowded though.
