The Flatiron: A Firkin Pub

Dependable beer list, nice staff. Food could be served hotter.

The building itself is very historic the pub is in the basement and they do have a patio which is great close to public transport union station isn’t far away. They have wifi the place is ok clean and comfortable seating spacious staff friendly and polite helpful.Wasn’t that hungry went for flatbread was more than enough certainly an interesting combination with chick peas curry chicken arugula was great nice lunch.

The Flatiron is another cool Firkin Pub. It's set in the basement of the "Flatiron" building downtown. The building was interestingly once owned by the Gooderham family, who used it as a front for smuggling alcohol into the US during Prohibition. The pub is tastefully decorated. There's tons of booths, great lighting and music, and it's generally not as crowded as others in the area, even on a Friday night. Great food and a nice selection of beers and other drinks. Typical of a firkin establishment.

Food was good, but we had to send back the salad because the bartender messed up the dressing. Usually no big deal, but I just felt like all the workers were rude. Seemed like everybody didn’t want to be bothered. Bartender poured a drink we didn’t like and said “Well it’ll get you drunk.” instead of offering to give us what we wanted. Pretty sure the workers would huddle in the corner and gossip/talk about other customers too. I wanted to leave as soon as we sat down and I felt a nasty vibe, but was hungry and stayed. Kind of hated the place. Rude workers, slow service. Good food though.

The wings were done to perfection. Juicy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Service was a bit slow. The bartender was new and didn't have answers such as how much was on my gift card. He should have just asked someone who knew to be pro-active instead of not trying.

Used to attend this bar several time per week with colleagues. But the place has very sadly gone downhill dramatically. The service is brutal and they cut you off after your THIRD, yes, THIRD beer. And having the one bearded bar tender intentionally attempt to embarrass you in front of clients. I used to spend thousands each week there for these meetings and I won't be back. The bar tender was so rude, I've literally posted to social media. #boycottfirkinflatiron

Just fabulous. We had work lunch here and the atmosphere is just fantastic with very polite staff who way beyond their duties to assist. I will take family here anytime we visit Tironto

Good service good patio great location, just your average pub food

I was on the patio yesterday and they had one server working the whole patio. Every table was full!! Service was kind of slow but hardly the server’s fault. They should do a better job of adding more staff on a busy day like that. Our server was Lina and she was very kind and apologetic, and extremely friendly. Made it worth it for us to stop by. Thank you to Lina for taking care of us!

Whenever I go to Toronto to see my daughter & son, we like to try different restaurants. We enjoyed the Flatiron Pub very much. One thing I always look for is a big menu & this one fit the bill. Nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food. I would definitely come back!

I've been here a few times and the firkin burger is one of my favourite burgers... only once they disappointed me when we had a company function on a weekday evening and our food was cold and tasteless (under staffed despite week advance notice)... otherwise it's been very good. They have daily specials so value is better on those days of your favourite dish is served. Oh and the buildiing is historical so a bonus over a location closer to my work and home... better service and ambiance

Great little pub. Food was great, service was fantastic.

The flatiron gets 4.5 stars because I’ve come here 3 times, every time there’s a spot for myself and a few friends to sit, get a beer and a bite, and feel right at home. Musics not blaring loud, drinks are fairly priced $5-8 with specials on everyday of the week. It’s a firkin, so if you’ve been to one you know what to expect, this one just happens to be located in a good neighbourhood and under a historical building

Love this place! ACTUALLY come here several times a week and happen to love the “bar tender“ with a beard.Always excellent service! 🍷
