The Cafe at Books & Books

So I walked into the cafe and they’re having an event. Went to the bar to have a drink while waiting for a panel discussion at the museum next door. The bartender looks at me with contempt. I ordered a Cabernet and handed the bartender my card and he charged me $17 for the glass. He’d already ran my card and I was already drinking it so didn’t want to make a scene, especially being the only black person here besides one of the servers. I have had wine at must more upscale places than this, and this happened at happy hour on a Friday. Why $17? Perhaps a way to ensure “my kind” would never come back there again.

Love it. Service during night time can be very slow.

Very nice place and atmosphere. Shame the service is very slow and when I finally got my coffee it wasn’t hot.
