Wonderful local restaurant. Their Friday and Saturday night German buffet is a staple of the town. Also a great breakfast buffet. They catered my wedding too, and were amazing to work with. Would definitely recommend for catering and for dining in!

I have never, never had a bad meal at this place. They serve German and American food. Some dishes I don't like because I don't like that kind of food. IF I did like it, It would be really great. There is so much variety that it doesn't matter. The Sunday Brunch is maybe a little expensive, but I think worth it. They put shrimp on the buffet.... That should say a lot. 10:30 to 2:00, Sunday. You have to try this place.

The Breadbasket was very busy. It's always busy on Friday and Saturday nights when they have their German Buffet. You pay one price and get the buffet, drink, and dessert.

Upon the recommendation of people at several quilt shops, we had a late lunch at this restaurant. It is German/Dutch themed, with an expanded menu. For lunch they have over a dozen types of sandwiches (on baked it shop breads) and over a dozen (made in shop from scratch) soups. I had the chicken salad sandwich on a shop baked bun; both the chicken salad and bun were great. My wife had a roast beef with cheddar sandwich, which was also great. In the evening they have a buffet, after 4:30 PM. There too many items to list, but we were given a sample of the German vinegar and bacon potato salad; wonderful!A great quilt shop and a great family restaurant a few blocks apart. Two great reasons to visit Newton, KS.
