Thai 55 Restaurant

The pad Thai was way too spicy. had my nose running. the spring rolls aren’t even spring rolls AT ALL!!! the food is bland. The spring rolls are literally flower tortillas wrapped in veggies!! not what’s advertised AT ALL!!

The only thing that this restaurant did was to remind me how great the Pad Thai is at The Star of Siam. Here it's a tragedy. The pot stickers and service weren't much better. At least I can say I was successful in finding out where not to go for Thai Food!

The service was pretty good, but it wasn't too busy either. For food, I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, which comes with a side of white rice by default. It was alright, but it isn't exactly close to more authentic Thai restaurants. For drink, I ordered a Thai iced tea, which was a bit closer to what I'm used to, but still a bit off. This one had a little too much cream. This is an okay place to eat at, but if you're craving authentic-tasting Thai food, I'd recommend Opart. If you don't care that much about authentic taste, then this will get you by.

This place actually rebranded to a Chinese food restaurant called southside ken! It's great food at reasonable prices!

I celebrated my birthday this evening in this gorgeous place. happy to tell that we passed a superb evening and the restaurant was indeed the reason for that successful evening. The waiters collaborated in a pleasant way, the cooking was delicious and my friends were extremely overjoyed. We shall definitely return for more events. thanks very much.

I visited this restaurant during a lunch break in the area. I placed my order at the counter and sat down at a table. When I received my food packaged to go I thought it was kind of odd (and wasteful) but sat down to eat it. Apparently it was a mistake to dine in because the owner got into a huff. Mind you a few minutes ago she was smiling at me as I interacted with her small daughter as I ordered. Long story short: the owner had a nasty attitude because I dared to dine in and eat my food. There were two other customers dining in so I didn't see the big deal. If you don't want people to dine in either tell them and/or consider if you really need to own and operate a sit down restaurant. The food was mediocre on top of the nasty attitude. Needless to say I won't be back.

The sauce in all the dishes were all either watery or extremely potent, moderate service, the waiter was nice. The Pad Thai was a joke! Why was it spicy? Why did it have a sauce? Worse Thai restaurant I've been to.

Our go to Thai place in Hyde Park. Egg Rolls are the best I've ever had ever.

One of the worst Thai restaurants I've ever eaten at. I have eaten Thai 55 three times, and each time I trick myself into thinking that it won't be as bad as it is. The service in-restaurant is fine. The reason this place deserves one star is simply the atrocious, horrendous food. I have never in my life had worse Thai dishes. It is as if after cooking the staff scrubbed any glimpse of flavor from each noodle and grain of rice, using freezer-burned beef and slaughtered broccoli.

Very unfortunate experience. The pad Thai was truly unappetizing pasty overcooked noodles with a bland greasy sauce and the tempura appetizer was anything but. Never go there again!

Tasks like they have not changed the oil in a while. Misleading, looks like a nice place but food taste like the fast food pick up places. It is with it to take a drive to Opart on State.It didn’t smell good Lon the way home. Should not have eaten it.

Really delicious food, great cocktails, solid beer choice. Very much loved everything we tasted, which was served family style. Enjoyed that the food was a bit spicier that I'm used to from American-friendly Thai restaurants. No Pad Thai here, which was absolutely okay. Only gripe was that service was quite slow, between getting our second set of drinks to being able to place our food order. But once we placed it, the dishes came out fairly quickly and the amazing tastes and smells more than make up for it.

This place is wonderful and spacious, the menu was yummy and the prices were very reasonable. fast, efficient service and very friendly staff members. Recommended.

We had a superb experience in this place. We loved the amazing vibes and the menu. The waiters were very friendly. I am happy we eventually decided to eat here.
