I got biryani and goat. Rice was great but goat was only a little bit meat and most of it was bones.

This place is worth checking out. A true gem in East Boston, and the food was delicious. Staff and service was top notch! I highly recommend this place, you will appreciate everything about it.

Yummiest chai around!! Literally, a cup of comfort. Tawakal was my first introduction to Somali cuisine and I love it! If you're looking for a cozy, unique cafe with great food - I highly recommend. The staff is lovely and welcoming. The owner is always there (or seems to be, ha!) and it's obvious that he, and his employees, put a lot of love into what is served. The food is wonderful, a ton of flavor. I don't have a high tolerance for spicy food, but I still really enjoy the sauces! If you do love spicy food, definitely come by and try everything with all the sauces. It being a Halal restaurant, you can rest assured that you're being served quality meat, and even if you don't eat meat that sense of quality extends to everything on the menu. The cafe is small, cozy, and decorated with beautiful paintings that really set the vibe. I love seeing what new drawings and messages show up on the chalk wall each time I visit. Go! Have a good time!

Tasteful, reasonably priced, international food.I'm a commoner at Tawakal and from day 1 have been satisfied with their food. I recommend the chicken pitas, they are delicious!

great food but service can be a tad slow

We came here straight from the airport and thankfully we did! Got the steak and cheese chapati, food was full of flavor and tasted amazing. The people there made the experience even better!

I really enjoyed the food. I never had this type of cuisine before , but the flavors were on point. I would likely skip on the goat as I had some chunks of bone , but the flavor and appetizers were really good .

This place is awesome. Family run business who puts tons of love into their food. Authentic Somalian cuisine. If you've never had it, this is the place to try it. They really make you feel at home. Without a doubt, a true gem!

Ok: so there is a bit of a wait. But this isn’t fast food. This is actual food. Plus free WiFi, so even impatient people like me have something to do. The food is great. It is absolutely delicious and well seasoned. The employees are kind. The prices are great. And you leave full. This place is perfect for lunch or dinner especially on a cold rainy day in Boston. I will definitely be coming more in the future.

Great food for a reasonable price and huge portions!

The food takes a while, but good food should! I love this place and the friendly people that work here. I'm so happy it's a short walk from work - yum!
