Delectable eats! Chef June, Maggie and staff's hospitality was stellar. I felt like they welcomed me into their home. The restaurant is filled with incredible Japanese art. June was happy to tell stories behind all my curiousities. I had a great time here and can't wait to return.

I don't think you can go to a better place here in Sierra Vista. Food is beautiful, decor is pretty, and the price is a nice average price for dinner. $15-$30 depending on what you order and it's worth every dollar. I personally got teriyaki chicken and a roll of sushi while only spending $23. Both tasted delicious and plan on being back next weekend if not every.

I first ate here a year ago and I was disappointed...I moved to Sierra Vista from Dana Point, CA, which has 6 sushi bars in town, so I was spoiled, but in my opinion the fish served wasn't what I was used to, the "tuna" didn't even look or taste like tuna.I have eaten here twice recently and it has been spot on, awesome hamachi (yellow tail), beautiful tuna, what a difference!!! My experience was great and I would recommend Tanuki to anyone who likes sushi.Thank you.

Small, but very welcoming. Staff was pleasant and was very invested in our satisfaction. Suhsi was fresh, service was quick and pleasurable.

small little eclectic restaurant giving it a homey Japanse style feel. There is a food prep area adjacent to the bar which is fun to watch the chef make the sushi. The owners are very nice and caring. I had some of the best Japanese food I have had in a long time. Really good seaweed salad with calamari, sukiyaki, sushi, tea, and AMAZING miso soup --wow! Only negative is that the sushi rolls could have been rolled somewhat tighter and cohesively.

Bottom Line: excellent sushi and friendly staff. Tanuki Sushi completely embodies the hole-in-the-wall "mom and pop" establishment. Like most of Sierra Vista, the outside isn't much to look at. The inside is better--still humble--but clean. Tanuki stands out for having excellent sushi in a place where you wouldn't expect it (rolls are bigger than you might expect--be careful about over-ordering). The restaurant is owned and operated by an incredibly friendly Japanese family who regularly interact with their customers. If you make friends with the head lady, she tends to gift you with octopus salad appetizers while you're waiting for your food. And it's really good. Overall, a really nice dining experience in humble settings that's worth your money. Note: Tanuki is no longer open for lunch due to low turnout.

This place is incredible the servers are awesome

If you're looking for Okinawan and Japanese food look no further. The sushi and Okinawan dishes are amazing. I wish they had more places like this in the states. Having lived in Japan for 8 years this was truly an awesome experience. I can't wait to go back!

This place has the best sushi and miso soup yakisoba i wish i could go everyday

My parents took my to this restaurant on my last night home for the holidays. I lived in SV for 4 years and never found this place and let me tell you - I AM SO MAD! This place is Sierra Vista’s best kept secret! If you come, you should start out with tempura and don’t skip the sushi! It’s some of the best I have had, and I eat a lot of sushi! I highly recommend the Rainbow Roll for a little of everything and the eel is like the steak of the sea! So delicious and tender. We will definitely be back!

What a lovely spot. Great cozy atmosphere, wonderfully friendly staff and really remarkable nigiri and sashimi. Don't skip sitting at the bar and getting to know the sushi master. He's fantastic too!
