Taipei Restaurant

Glad I found this place on my most recent trip over to roanoke. Pretty good food. But the little older lady, i presume is the owner, who was walking around the place asking everyone how was their food..... She asked me a weird question and disrespected me. She asked “So why are you eating by yourself?“ I said I was working, in roanoke on business. She replied to me “Oh really?“ in a kind of *i don't believe you* tone.... then she rolled her eyes at me. It made me feel really uncomfortable. When I left, she called me sweet heart and said “Next time bring someone with you“That was just weird, and she was talking like she was talking to a child. Why did she feel the need to say that to a 1st time customer, in such a manner?

I love this place, food and staff. Very reasonable prices for food cooked to order. I eat there very frequently and have never had a bad meal. I always take my friends from out of town there to eat. They all talk bout it and can't wait to go back. I see one review that said the staff was rude. I think he/she ate somewhere else. You will enjoy your visit. I'll promise that!

Taipei Restaurant is somewhat of a "local legend" in Roanoke, Va for Chinese food. The restaurant has been around for a very long time and underwent name changes in the past. The food is pretty good and the service is generally pretty good. The owner Lin can be very friendly however she is quite the gossip, so most people know not to listen to anything she says. I wouldn't recommend them as a 1st choice, though I may recommend them as a 2nd or 3rd choice. I am a beef kind of guy and I always enjoyed Taipei's beef w/garlic sauce. Someone told me recently this place is closing soon and Lin is retiring so get it while you can. This place will be sorely missed by some.

Had dinner here yesterday after an extended break being out of the area. Still great! Good portions & quick service!

Absolutely the best hot and sour soup in the entire Roanoke valley! What will we do, now that you've closed??

Don't get me wrong with my rating because the food was amazing but the customer service that Miss Lynn gives now is so poor. She is very rude and disrespectful to customers. Never seen her act like that when i was younger and my family came in she was always happy. If you want good food go here but don't expect good customer service.

What every reviewer has said....we've been eating there for almost 20 years, give or take, beginning before my grandsons were even born...and it is one of their favorites places...they are now 16 and almost 14...Miss Lynn is a LOVE and her hot and sour soup is the best in the Valley...like everything else she serves. Headed there in about 15 minutes!

The food and service are very reasonable and the prices are affordable. Was sad to learn that Lyn plans to retire soon. Get it while you can!

Unfortunately she has just recently sold her business. Today April 30th is her last day. :(

Great food. Enjoyed the atmosphere too. Found an interesting report on google called ' ripoff report ' about this restaurant. Worth a look. Search for it on google with the name of the restaurant ' Taipei restaurant ' if you cant find it in the search results.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the Roanoke area. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, this is a very well-run establishment with fresh, excellent food. The owner Lin treats every customer like family... this is one of those rare places that you will want to return to again and again. Definitely worth a try.

Great find in roanoke. I dined in and the food and service was great . Lots of locals visited and the owner greeted everyone warmly with the same live and affection.. When I visit Roanoke going forward this is my spot for Chinese food..
