My meal was delicious, and the hospitable staff ensured that the experience was excellent. Tradition sometimes ties people down. Not here. Using traditional methods, Chef Saito makes his personal vision a reality. When I noted that the squid he served didn't have the chewiness I usually associate with that fish, the chef said he did not care for that chewiness and so had marinated the squid for days to get the texture he wanted. I enjoyed learning how his preferences shaped his preparation and manipulation of the superb fish he works with.

This is a 2 Michelin star restaurant. I can only afford lunch omakase because dinner is way too expensive. The quality is decent, not dinner quality of course. The service was great. Very attentive. Very clean place with Japanese massage toilet. They don't take tips which is a sentiment to the Japanese culture!

Always great visiting this place! I really recommend here for lunch. Dinner seems amazing, too. But lunch has a great deal for great quality sushi.

5 stars in my books. A++ service and really interesting choice cuts of fish. We had the baby barracuda that day, first time I’ve had that served at an omakase sitting. The servers even offered to show us pictures of each fish on an iPad, and chef Ko graciously thanked us and sent us out the door when we were done. Omakase lunch was good value and yummy. We’ll be back!

I celebrated my birthday last night in this gorgeous place. Well it was a pleasant evening and the restaurant was definitely the reason for this happy evening. The stuff contributed in a sweet way, the meals were extremely good and my buddies were so happy. We shall definitely return for more celebrations. Thank you very much.

This is now my favorite sushi restaurant in the United States. Attentive staff. Skillful sushi chefs. Top ingredients. These combine to offer an unforgettable dining experience. The only equivalent sushi experience in NYC today is Masa. The lunch omakase is a bargain for what you get. I tried octopus row sushi for the first time here. I got emotional about how great this new taste experience was. Each piece is carefully and immaculately prepared and presented. Each grain of rice is perfectly shaped and cooked. Every bite that I have ever eaten here has been memorable and moving.

Best scallop, best nodokuro, close to best uni, best cooked ebi (umaebi), rice is on the acidic side though, could be slightly firmer texture as well

I have eaten at 5-7 Michelin* sushi restaurants this year in NYC, Singapore, London, and Kuala Lumpur. Each has its best attributes and some that are middle of the road. Sushi Ginza Onodera is at or near the top of the list in terms of fish portions (large, super fresh slices on nigiri), fish freshness, and overall flavor. The uni was perfect, the toro was silky, the barracuda and hamachi were memorable. The chef was engaging and friendly, ultimately offering some items not included in the omakase itself. I’ll definitely go again, and lunch omakase is a better deal. Highly recommend.

Pretty good selection of food and great quality.Had never been disappointed with the food here so far. One more thing is they served in small portions and very high in price.Ambiance good.
