For what we paid we could have went to a nicer restaurant. Sam’s Club sushi is far more superior than this place.

While the staff was entirely pleasant, the experience was absolutely that of fast food. Do not go to Sushi Freak if you are looking for a legitimate sushi fix. I had my fingers crossed because it is so highly rated, but this restaurant is to sushi and poke what Taco Bell is to Mexican food. Temper your expectations if you are more familiar with fresh ingredients, as most of their dishes contain imitation crab. I thought I was ordering fresh tuna, and while it was at least raw, it was so finely chopped it spread like mush across the top of my roll. The rice was dry and did not taste fresh, and the fish had the taste of having sat out too long without being kept cold. Their teriyaki chicken is not sticky or saucy. It sits in a warmer partially submerged in a juice that smells kind of like teriyaki sauce. The prices are mostly reflective of the college student audience they seem to cater to, so I could see it being a great place for such patrons to hang out. The interior is fairly hip as well. If you want decent, freshly made sushi rolls with excellent ingredients, I recommend the pre-made rolls at Sprouts Farmers Market. The guys there are incredibly friendly and really know what they're doing. If affordable, fast food style chain restaurant sushi works for you, check out Sushi Freak.

Called in my order over the phone, and was advised I would have to be charged over the phone, but made me a little uncomfortable giving my credit card info for sushi. When I arrived to pick-up, there was no clear place to pick up my order, so I stood in line which took longer than expected and there were several people. It's pretty easy to put up a sign to clearly indicate where to pick up phone which are already paid for. I had a philly and a cali roll. Both were very good taste wise, although the preperation and presentation seemed rushed. If you want sushi in Las Cruses, this is a safe option, definitely not quite what in used to in regards to efficiency or quality when it comes to sushi.

This used to be a great place when they first open. Since May, we have gone 3 different times to give them multiple chances and recently they have produced sub par food. Each time, the rice has been undercooked and either not completely full of the proteins that were desired or filled unevenly. Furthermore the last time we went about a month ago, the size of their sushi burritos were smaller than normal, with crunchy rice again, and missing 1/3 of the salmon, shrimp and tuna. If you are going to charge me the same price I would expect what I got originally. I hope they can change and go back to their original standards as some sushi-like restaurants have gone out of business here in Las Cruces.

Great place can create your own sushi roll. Or even a bowl. I do a bowl with spring mix so I keep the carb count down.

Can't complain here really. Sushi is pretty good, I have had almost all their rolls and they have been fresh and made right. My wife gets the sushi burrito and recommends it. Friendly service and ordering over phone is easy. Thanks for good sushi in New Mexico!

We came for dinner around 6 pm on a Wednesday night, and we were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered the Crunch Roll, the Sunny Cali roll, and the Waikiki roll. All 3 were delicious. We will be back!

I am extremely impressed! They were able to accommodate my gluten free needs and I didn't have to just settle for a subpar meal like I have to in most places. My whole family enjoyed their meal!

Delicious, I always love a place that caters to my dietary restrictions, and having the option to make my own poke bowl is great. Tasted great👍.

Really uneasy about the staff's habits while handling food. Have requested employees change gloves before touching my food after observing them touch masks, scratch their own face or handle payment at the register with gloves on. They've always responded well and swapped gloves without issue, but makes me concerned about training and focus on sanitization.

Love this place, great style of food that's not readily available in this area. Much cheaper than Sukara and Aqua reef!

Customer service was good but the food station was dirty, 50% of the tables were dirty and we were only ones there. 50% of the self serve drink station was not working.
