Stuart's Bakery

I will admit that I usually avoid market bakeries, or bakeries that are in high-traffic areas where customers are not necessarily regulars, but just want something, often anything at all. In this case, Stuart's falls into a bit of both: located in busy Granville Market, long-standing Stuart's doles out tons of sweets, all lined up in masses: from tarts to cakes to neon-coloured macarons to "healthy" granola that resembles brittle. Pricey for what you get and, with their apparent love of food colouring, it doesn't look like stellar quality or taste.... -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

The place has what looks to be an amazing selection of cakes and pastries on display - however, we were warned by a local that much of it sits there for up to a week before being sold. Nevertheless, we gave it a try and were incredibly disappointed. I actually found a hair in my cannoli and decided to return it. I was offered a stale hair-filled replacement rather than a refund or apology. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere - there are FAR better options on Granville Island.

We had the most delicious, piled-high blueberry pie and, oh yeah, we chomped it down with piggish delight!
