Outpost it is! Worth the drive to sit outside in the shade eating GREAT food, drinking beer and listening to live music. Pitch some horseshoes if it's not too hot.

Very good food & service, and your fellow patrons will be the epitome of WNC culture (which is anything but homogeneous!). We go here at least 2 dozen times a year with and without family (we live a ranger ride away). Great music, great people, great food & beer... Hard to argue with that.

Alaskan owners with a distinct ability to make everything tasty and comforting! Definitely casual. Horseshoes and a beer, check. Great music and a salmon burger, check. Fresh sandwiches and smiling faces, check and double check!

Quality food. Beautiful porches to enjoy the views. Run by great people. Open Wed -Sun. Try the pimento bomb sammys or hickory nut gap burgers! Great beer selection.

I live 7 minutes away and have been going here since it opened. Lots of great changes over the years for the better.Great local place.

Grab the Blue Bacon Burger and a local brew, the jalapeño relish is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy.

This cafe has a very small town feel. The food was good (a little cold), the live music was great, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was eye-appealing. I highly recommend sitting outside if the weather permits. The only things I would recommend are that they work on the service, as it was a bit slow and that they have a bit more wider and diverse menu. Overall, a very cool find.

If you’re in the area this place is a must! Very cool atmosphere and great food! Be aware you are in the middle of nowhere and we had an encounter with a bear in the parking lot. Definitely an experience we will never forget!

10 out of 10 burger! Had the bacon blue... Juicy, tasty...a dream burger!.I did cheat a smidge, put a little of their bacon jam on the bottom and it was perfect.Ginormous jalepeno poppers were huge and delicious.Overall environment and quality of food this a very special spot. Worth the drive.

Best poutine I have ever had. Must visit kind of place!! Has a hipster vibe and was filled with just the kindest and most friendly people.

It has a welcoming feeling with the venue, decor, and staff. When we visit the area it's one of the go-to places for us. As a large group, eleven of us, they are very accommodating. Just as a generalized experience, with large groups tend to have slower service. Straightaway Cafe was far from that. They were still very quick and attentive. Highly recommend a meal and a nice evening around the fire pit.
