Steak 'n Shake

Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company's name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word "steak" stood for steakburger. The term "shake" stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak 'n Shake remains the "better burger" leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order. Other classics include the Frisco Melt, 7x7, Prime Steakburgers, and fan favorite M&M milkshakes.

Pretty good as per usual. This restaurant is one of the few I can actually call steak 'n shake rather than steak 'n wait. (To clarify, 4 stars is better than average, not mediocre).

My wife and I took our granddaughter for a nice lunch, which is what it turned out to be. Wife had a basic hamburger, which met her expectations. She thinks of Steak and Shake as a good place for a burger. Granddaughter was quite happy with her chicken tenders and fries and small shake. No problem there. Vegetarian that I am, I order a meal-sized salad, which was pretty good, which is as much as I can say for a salad made with no greens but iceberg lettuce, and the usual carrots and tomatoes, etc. I had ordered that salad before and knew to expect that. So I guess you can say it was worth repeating. I splurged and ordered fries with the salad. Don't ask about the logic of that.Service was decent and fairly quick, by a young lady with a rather subdued demeanor. No complaints about her. She did her job and was attentive enough. We would go back.

This is one of my grandkids' favorites. They love the burgers, chicken fingers, and the cheesy bacon fries.I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and nice presentation of my simple garden salad. I added a grilled chicken breast and had them hold the croutons and the shredded cheese (which otherwise is quite an ample size addition).
