Best dining hall on campus! Good food and nice service! If you are not using a meal swipe do not go here though, you can get better for the money!

Really awesome, gotta try it if you're stopping by campus. $9 nets you a big southern meal, you gotta try the chicken (Weds or Fri right now). I'll post the menu later.

The food is great! I go often for lunch and dinner when I don't feel like cooking. Great location for Fort Sanders residents. Line usually out the door for lunch rush

Food is not season well, if seasoned at all

It's always a solid lunch but only has one line and always has the same stuff. They need fried okra.

For cafeteria food, it was pretty good. Great selection of veggies and a salad, too.

Best fried chicken I’ve had in Knoxville!!

Imagine this: a freshman. Barely making through the first semester. Broke. Stressed. Depressed. Homesick. After eating at this fine establishment all my worries subsided. Depression cured. Stress gone. Skin cleared. I felt at home in that place. I went home full and happy. I would eat there without a meal plan and that’s why it’s safe to say that UTK Southern Kitchen is the best meal on campus!!

Best on campus dining for use with a UT meal plan

Eating at Southern Kitchen is like eating at your Grandma’s house. Between the warm and welcoming staff and the dim lighting, it is definitely the best place to eat on campus. The food is not only delicious but filling. It has been a long time since I was full, but I ate every bite on my plate. The food at Southern Kitchen is cooked with love unlike the food that is mass produced at the other cafeterias. Southern Kitchen is not only a place to eat on campus, it is a home.

Southern Kitchen is probably the best place you can use your VolCard on the UT campus. The food is decent, but definitely a heavy southern diet. Quality can be inconsistent depending on the day; the macaroni and cheese is either great or pasta with milk sauce.

I kept hearing about the fried chicken. It was OK but nothing special. Update:. The chicken his hit & miss for some reason. The last few times I had it, it was really good. Best friend Chicken on campus and much better than Raising Cain's.
