Nice little corner shop with outside seating and good interior. Friendly staff and quick service. Excellent menu through the week and a full breakfast on the weekends. Great stop for a quick bite.

Another of my favourite Boston South End breakfast spots, the South End Buttery is a wonderful place. You can sit up front by the counter, but in the mornings I prefer the bar right at the back which you can often have to yourself.I usually come here for breakfast on a weekday, but would love to do brunch at the weekend. The coffee is good enough for me to pay a visit just for the coffee itself: I really like the option of a French Press, not something you get very often these days. The breakfast menu is limited, but just what I need if I'm looking for something lighter than a plateful of diner fare. The egg sandwiches on biscuits or bagels sets me up for the day without filling me up!

The people who wrote raving reviews must have not seen the obvious that I saw. I saw a menu that could only be half served. On the day I visited the staff has to apologize to a customer for not having any avocados on hand. I wasn't able to get a fruity drink because "they couldn't make it."It's not like they make any of their actual food in-house either. They were delivered by a South End Buttery van, pans of sandwiches, macaroni salads, wraps and more. I saw the delivery guy doing his thing right in front of my eyes. One couple came through the door and immediately turned 180, turned off by the sight of premade wraps. Paying such a premium for this kind of food is a rip off.Best to just head on over to Flour.

Sooo good! I got a latte with oat milk and a breakfast burrito during my stay in Boston. The breakfast burrito was absolutely amazing! I was expecting a standard pre-made (albeit usually delicious) burrito usually found at most quick stop-over stores, but this was amazing. Obviously made in-house and at the time of order. Absolutely recommend!!

Food was really good, and portion sizes were large. They have two parts, one for sit down and one for a quick sandwich and drinks. Worth checking out if you're in the south end and want a nicer brunch

Brunch was excellent here! The basement dining area was comfortable and intimate, but I would highly recommend getting a reservation since the space is smaller than most. We started off with mimosas (chose from Orange, Blood orange, or Grapefruit) and then had their Buttery Bakery Basket (blueberry scones are a must-have)!- The Breakfast Sandwich: arugula lightens each bite of fried egg all in the brioche bun and the home fries are crisp, halved fingerling potatoes 👌ðŸ¿- Western Omelet: greens made this omelet fresh!

I'm a semi-regular here. I go to a lot of different cafes, diners, and coffee shops early in the morning for breakfast before work, The South End Buttery is one of my favorites. Good, strong coffee. And the country biscuit breakfast sandwich is so good. Plus the staff is really friendly and pleasant which is huge at 6AM.

Food was very good, fresh. The staff are professional and courteous which is appreciated especially during the Brunch rush when every white girl is annoying the staff asking “how much longer for a table?†Every five minutes. The host was attentive and informative, and our waitress was very patient with us. Everything on the menu looked so good so it took us a minute to order. Ambience is calm and relaxed. The restaurant part is small, but it keeps the noise level down. Will definitely be back.

Delicious breakfast and good strong coffee. When a mistake was made with our order, they quickly fixed it and even comped the order. Really nice place!

Great baked goods, good coffee, and delicious mocha. Sandwich selection has changed though, and they took some of the better items off the menu. A bit overpriced, but if you're used to South End prices it wouldn't surprise you. Also, they've gotten my order wrong a few times in the past. Still, killer fries and decadent grilled cheese.

Great breakfast and coffee. Small portions but heavy especially the breakfast biscuit options. Loved the caprese biscuit breakfast and you can always add spinach, bacon. etc. Try the baked goods. Loved the orange chocolate scone heated up.

The pasteries are good and the coffee is palettable

Tucked in off a main artery, South End Buttery is nestled halfway up on the corner of Clarendon & Gray. Offering fuller meal options than other nearby cafes, what they lack in quantity, they make up in quality. Quiches, cold salads, meatloaf, & fish dishes are a few of filling eats to choose from.I went in to satisfy my sweet tooth. Although baked off the premises, I was told by the friendly staff that cupcakes, and cookies are delivered fresh daily...and I was not disappointed. For a midweek afternoon, close to the end of the workday, the place was practically empty. However, I think it was due to the prevalence of an abundance of cafe and bar type places rather than the store itself. All the better, to have a great place to go to and avoid a crowd.
