I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The menu is straightforward (you choose breast or thigh or a mixture, type of rice and sauce). When I went there was a little bit of a wait for the food (I think they were busier than expected and they were cooking more of something) but once it arrived it was really yummy and hit the spot. I got the most popular sauce style (soy something?) with thigh meat and chicken rice. They were out of breast but I don't prefer it anyway. It had some pickles as well. And it was around New Years so they handed out free little cups of rose! Nice touch! I don't have a lot of experience with the phenomenon of "chicken rice" but if it's anything like Gai then I'm all for it!

This place is basically Rooster & Rice plus a lot more grease, flavoring and spices. If you've become accustomed to the relative healthiness (and blandness) of R&R, you'd appreciate and enjoy how much better GAI's chicken rice tastes, but also disappointed at how oily it is.Recommended: The Salad Gai. I find their standard Gai Chicken Rice dish to be way too greasy, especially when ordering Chicken Rice instead of Brown Rice. However, their salad is done well. Fresh cabbage slaw with crushed peanuts and house sauce makes for a refreshing mix with the already-amazing chicken.Sidebar: The white meat is also 10x better than R&R.
