SOCU Southern Kitchen and Oyster Bar

My wife and I went here recently for a date night and we were amazed to say the least, this place was awesome from the moment we walked in ,the layout stood out first, there was an exposed kitchen. The waitress we wanted to be seated at was unavailable so we decided to sit at the bar, and the night took off from there we started with appetizers candied bacon deviled eggs and lobster topped deviled eggs, they were delectable. I had a drink to go with my appetizer and it was perfect, although it took a while for our entrees to come our , we were gifted a free drink for our wait but when the meal arrived it was totally worth the wait, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves

A group of us dined here recently and we were all very pleased with the food, the service, the atmosphere and the overall presentation. This is another stop for those coming downtown Mobile to dine. You will not be disappointed with the food that was very delicious and presented well. Very relaxed vibe on the Sunday afternoon that we dined. Kudos to the chef and the owner.

The service and food were ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I had two of their house crafted cocktails and one in particular, St. Tropez, was the most refreshing cocktails I've ever had....and I've had A TON of cocktails in my life. I went with the fried lobster deviled eggs for my appetizer and the mama's fried chicken with mac and cheese and dirty rice as my sides. Both arrived to me at the bar plated beautifully and relatively quickly. Looking forward to bringing my family to dine in the next time they are in town for a visit.

I have been here so many times I have lost count! The food, the service and the atmosphere are beyond exceptional. Every time I try something different and have not been disappointed at all. If you have not been yet you are truly doing yourself a disservice. Lunch, brunch or dinner no matter the occasion this is the perfect spot. SOCU puts their own spin on classic dishes! The lamb was pairs very nicely with the sweet mashed potatoes, the fish was cooked to perfect and the pasta went well with wine. I don’t think anybody can top the candied bacon deviled eggs and the lobster on the lobster deviled eggs melts in your mouth. If my words aren’t convincing enough take a look at the pictures this place is great!

My family and I have visited this restaurant twice. Each time the food, atmosphere, and service were impeccable. I love that this restaurant offers dishes for seafood lovers and non seafood lovers. The peach cobbler was beyond delectable. I highly recommend this establishment. It far surpasses any other.

I've been to SOCU many times and have tried/sampled a number of their dishes; they were all excellent! I personally recommend the ox tails and catfish plates, but the southern fried chicken and the pasta were also great. The alcoholic drinks were perfectly crafted. I also loved the ambiance of the restaurant: I found it to be quiet and intimate, great for enjoying conversational dinners with friends and loved ones. I have went with and without making reservations and had no issues being seated.

Downtown mobile!!! Give you a new Orleans type of vibe . Oxtails the best on the coast. The mac and cheese so southern and so good . You definitely wont be disappointed. If it was 10 stars they would get it fro me .

Impeccable Service!!! A beautiful start to our pre anniversary. Service was outstanding from start to finish. Arrived around 6:15 it was packed with reservations but we where offered a seat at the bar since we had no reservation. I've come to realize that was the best seat in the house. I got a full view of the restaurant and the food being cooked and prepared for service. I cant complain about anything. The spring rolls and bacon deviled eggs omg. My husband's oxtails fell off the bone. My pictures tell the story

SOCU is your go to stop for Southern cuisine crafted with elegance. The atmosphere is designed for a good date night with intimidate seating. The food is overall very good and the side dishes compliment the main entrees very well. However, the lamb lollipop dishes have been inconsistent with portion sizing. Had it not been for the inconsistency in the dishes, SOCU would be a no-brainer 5/5. Still, I am very excited to try it once more.

My wife and I stopped at this amazing place for a late Sunday lunch. The only available seating was at the bar. Let me tell you that did not hinder our experience in any way. The bar was full service and we received outstanding service. The Chicken and Waffles ( get the red velvet waffles ) were the best I have ever had. Our food came out quickly and we enjoyed the entire experience.

The food and service was outstanding. From the cocktails, to the appetizers, to the entrees, everything was delicious. We will definitely be back!
