Smitten Ice Cream

An expensive gimmick. There is no logical reason why ice cream that has just been frozen with liquid nitrogen is any better than ice cream that was made an hour ago, or a day ago, or a week ago. In fact, many times when you order a scoop, it comes from a freezer behind the fancy cooling towers. Not worth the bother or the price.

I miss the Tcho chocolate flavor. Also, make sure you ask them to give you a freshly churned scoop, otherwise sometimes they will give you one from the freezer.

I’ve eaten a lot of ice cream in the last 50 years, and it’s hard to nail down which ice cream was the best of the best, but Smitten comes really close. Their unique approach of freezing the ice cream when you order it, using liquid nitrogen, results in something so creamy, so tasty ... you have to try it. When you visit, expect a very short list of available flavors of the day... 5 or so. And read the menu carefully, because each flavor has some recommended toppings to go with it. I had a bourbon peach ice cream and added a crunchy topping, and it was SO good. If I had stayed in San Francisco a little longer, I would have gone back and tried their other flavors as well.There are several locations around San Francisco, and I see that there is one in Oakland. It’s worth the trip!

Fantastic made on the spot ice cream. They change their flavors as seasons change but they're all very good. My personal favorite is salted caramel. Give it a try you won't regret it.

Smitten is my favorite Ice Cream place in the city. It is the smoothest ice cream that you will ever have. This is because they use liquid nitrogen to make it. This method results in smaller ice crystals than other ice creams.When i first read this on their wall, I thought "yea right..". But after tasting it I have to say it is definitely noticeably smoother. There is another place around the corner, Salt & Straw, that is good. But I like Smitten better.Salt & Straw has more craft and hipster flavors, but I am an ice cream purist and prefer plain chocolate ice cream in a cone. Not a bad place, but I still give Smitten the nod.

I've never been the biggest fan of nitro ice cream but this was delicious! With flavours like earl grey, salted caramel, pear and more it's a great little place. There is one table in the back that seats four and then a few little seats while you're waiting but otherwise this is a grab and go place. The queue was out the door when we arrived but it moved very quickly and soon we had our ice cream which was delicious. They offer waffle bowls, cones or cups depending on preference. I had the vanilla with butter pecan sauce and it was delicious.

They serve only the best and tastiest ice creams here and not to mention they have a lot of delectable flavours to choose from

Live frozen ice-cream, what could be better? Sauces on top, that's what! This place rocks!

Very expensive! Extremely confusing! I left without 3 cones, 4 cookies, 2 toppings and didn't even get an ice cream for myself! They try to reel you in with the side menu but then add another $4 for the toppings featured on the board. Very misleading! $9 for a1 scoop sundae?I should add this was our 4th ice cream stop as the others didn't have parking. We drove from 3 hours away. Wish I would not have left a tip!
