Phenomenal food and incredible service this restaurant is a MUST if you are in Charleston because you don't want to miss the opportunity to have a meal of a lifetime "I'm serious" everything was spectacular! I had the tuna steak and my wife had the shrimp & grits "both were recommended" and absolutely delicious

Upon arriving in downtown Charleston at (1 pm) we immediately started to look for a restaurant for lunch. While walking up East Bay Street we passed a number of restaurants which didn’t appear busy. Fortunately my wife spotted a crowd at Slightly North of Broad (SNOB) and indeed, on entering, it was packed with happy patrons, enjoying excellent food in fun surroundings. We were rapidly served warm, tastey, cornbread, while we perused the menu. We chose the jumbo lump crab cake, and the grilled salmon salads. They were truly delicious. It was a delight to find a restaurant where the chefs clearly know how to cook salmon properly.

We heard about Slightly North of Broad from the guy sitting next to us on the plane. We stopped in at S.N.O.B. for a late lunch (4 p.m.) so they were serving from their "piccolo" menu. We ordered the cheese plate and a burger to share. Both were delicious! The waiter was nice, but didn't check on us enough to know we wanted another beer. The complimentary cornbread was very good and the cole slaw was the best I've had in any restaurant!

Arrived at the restaurant early for a reservation and we were seated immediately, which we really appreciated because the restaurant was packed. The staff was exceptional and lived up to the expectations of such a nice establishment. They were there for us exactly when they were needed and at the same time gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal and conversation. The manager came by a few times to check in and thanked us for dining with them. The food really was great. We got the BBQ Tuna and the Pork plate. They were both exceptional. The tuna was perfect and I loved every bite. We followed up dinner with dessert and were equally pleased with the ice cream and creme-brûlée.

Slightly North of Broad. We had lunch there and it was very tasty. I had the shrimp and grits (what they are known for) and my mother had the chicken and veggie plate. The atmosphere was quaint. We sat near the back facing the kitchen. The staff was working very diligently to make sure all the meals were made with pride. I was very surprised at the quality of service and food as this was not on my top list of restaurants to visit, but I'm very happy we stopped in for lunch.

It's a hip place without being stuffy. Women dining together are welcome and comfortable. Varied and interesting wine options. Attentive without being intrusive service. Food options are creative and tasty

We had a great meal at Slightly North of Broad. The shrimp and grits were the best version of the dish I've had anywhere. The complimentary cornbread was a great addition to the meal. I'm addition, we were visiting with our 7 month old and they couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful.

On a Tuesday night, most places were empty, SNOB was full and bustling. Nice ambiance. Service was good, food excellent. Shrimp and grits were fantastic, my wife had duck and it was her favorite meal of the week. Would go back for sure...

Wow. This dinner was absolutely delicious. The Shrimp and Grits were nothing like I have had before. Such fantastic flavors! The asparagus side was so fresh and full of flavor. And the blackberry cobbler to finish it off was equally wonderful. Simply put—Highly RecommendSee photos

Shrimp and Grits to die for (and I would take a serious wounding for the Grilled Salmon salad)! I don't normally get excited about food but this dining experience was exceptional. Robust spicing in the sauce that included shrimp even before getting to the generous portion of firm but juicy shrimp. From the ambiance and decor to the waitstaff and food(!) everything was exceptional and reasonably priced. If there were a 1/2 star award I'd give it 4 1/2 only for having a small water closet facility off the main dining room. I will definitely be back and recommend others try it out.

Make your reservation because there's often a wait. of all the restaurants I visited in Charleston this was my favorite and it was also the most affordable. Unpretentious, so favorable, and a great staff, from bar, to door, to floor. It's a must visit!

If you are coming to Charleston to visit I suggest making this the one place as your 'must do' restaurant. The food was unbelievable!!! My elopement turned into an actual wedding last minute... needing to find a place for 30 people last minute wasn't easy. They made room for us and were absolutely exceptional with the service and the food. Not one person didn't absolutely rave about how wonderful their food was and the staff was top notch. Thank you S.N.O.B. for making our experience 5 stars!! Whenever I come to visit town I will make sure to come back.

Location is wonderful, we were able to sit outside! The weather was wonderful! We tried the appetizer- meat patty and it was tasty! The shrimp and grits were very good, a unique spin on the southern dish! The cornbread is excellent!

Outstanding steak, service, and style. Slightly North of Broad, or S.N.O.B as we like to call it is a fantastic high end restaurant. The lighting details, decoration, and every little detail of the place provides for an elegant southern high end aesthetic that perfectly matches the food served. We never had too long of a wait for anything and I can say it was by far the best steak I’ve had. Most memorable place I went to in Charleston.

Questions & Answers

Casual is fine, but presentable. I wore nice jeans and a blouse, and my husband works a button up. It is a nice place so can also dress up for your occasion, but it is not required!

They are closed for Thanksgiving. I checked with OpenTable.

Yep, open for Easter.

Yes. Upscale casual vibe.

Possibly... I'd call ahead of time

There is a parking garage just around the corner. $1 per half hour.

Traditionally they have been open Christmas Eve through lunchtime closing in the late afternoon. Though perhaps they may be open for early dinner Christmas Eve. They're always closed on Christmas Day.

Grits and chicken livers. My favorite. The best
