Silk Roots is one of my favourite restaurants in Peterborough! They serve delicious, flavourful food and I highly recommend bringing a few friends and trying it out! I love the slow cooked chicken or beef with the rice, salad and pickled vegetables. The sauce on that dish is amazing. They have many options to choose from and the flavours are like a fusion of different cultures. The owners are friendly and do a great job too. I suggest to dine in for lunch or dinner early, as it can get busy with take out orders later sometimes. Second floor restaurant, upstairs. Street parking or King street parking garage nearby. Perhaps dine in, and then catch a live music show downtown or at Showplace afterwards! You will be nice and full.

Was empty when I went in, but that made sense given the weather today. That being said I was served right away, staff were friendly, and the food was great for the price. I'll be back. The saffron chicken with carnelized onion platter was terrific. Only 2 dollars more for a decent helping of garlic potato's as well.

What an awesome experience friendly staff. The food is so wonderfully spiced. Aromatic scents as it comes to the table. Biting into my kebab combo especially the shami kebab the flavours that hit the taste buds were amazing. Wonderfully priced amazing food will go again. Worth trying the food and may take my daughter as she is vegetarian next. So many wonderful choices. You can take it home or if you are at the marina or a tourist pick some up. Very family oriented and heart and soul cooking.

The food was excellent and the prices very reasonable. I would definitely do take out in future. Lovely family but when we walked in, even though we had made a reservation, there was no table ready and the ambiance is lacking. Very down to earth place but great value and super fresh delicious food. No liquor license.

Went there with family for dinner,very friendly and inviting. The food is amazing, and delicious.my 8 and 6 yrs old loved the halal peperoni pizza.must try Dupiaze Lamb Shank and Dupiaze Beef. portions are huge. I will come back every chance I get. I tried the falafel sandwich here and while the falafel was well spiced and unique tasting, the wrap as a whole wasn't too great. I found the wrap itself dry and there was a lack of tahini or hot sauce in the sandwich. I would have preferred that the wrap also have more vegetables inside too.Maybe I came on a bad night because I hear great things about this place.

Silk Roots is our go-to for hot and delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. Everything we've had there, and we've tried almost everything, is so so flavourful and tasty, I end up craving it on a weekly basis. The owner and chef of the restaurant, a sister and brother team, are super friendly and happy to suggest items if you're a first timer or just looking to try something new. Great service and very kind. Have been here a few times and every visit the food and service gets better and better!

Excellent! Very fresh, big portions, full of flavour. Definitely my new “go-to” middle-eastern style food. Prices are very reasonable for the size of the portions. I always find more “ethnic” food in PTbo to be overpriced but this is not at all. I got it yesterday and I would get it again today! Tried the slow cooked “Dobaiz (sp?) chicken plate and my partner got the Doner chicken plate and we shared. Both were delicious and highly recommended.
