Fantastic food and friendly staff. I love this place and have brought both my daughter and dates here. Was perfect for both.

You could go somewhere fancy and pay a lot of money for good scallops, or you could go here and pay a little bit of money for better scallops.

One of the nicer restaurants in Birmingham that serves food until 1 am on weekends. Trendy spot with an in house DJ that kept a good vibe in the place. Ramen was good and filling. Even though the bar and tables up front are usually crowded there is more seating in the back. will be going again.

We went a week ago on a date night- a rare occurrence since we have a newborn and a toddler. Upon entering the dark corridor-like restaurant, I immediately felt transported to New York. Alan and I used to frequent many little ramen shops whenever we would visit and have been sorely missing it. I went for the spicy miso. I loved the caramelized brussels- which added a unique depth of flavor paired with the shiitake and the smoky pork belly. We will definitely be back for more- thank you Shu 🍜

This was my go-to date night spot when I lived in Birmingham. I miss it so much! Gorgeous ambiance for a late night dinner. The cocktail menu was always interesting and fresh, and the ramen was addictive. So good on a chilly Bham night. Can't recommend enough, so many great memories there.

Good go for trying some Ramen foods. There are commonly Combo of healvy meals available. Spicy and Meat items are popular among them. Popular dishes are Spicy Miso Ramen, Seafood Ramen, Tuna Tataki, Crab Claws and Soy Butter Scallops. Recommended.

Had a pretty bad experience when I first went about a year ago - Veggie Gyoza were expensive and uninspiring (was that just a rolled up collard green in a dumpling?), for the ramen - the toppings were charred to the point that they took over the dish with a strong burnt flavor. I have since heard more positive things and will go back soon to give it a second chance. It has a cool atmosphere and decent bar that I would recommend if you are not looking to eat.

Great location. Cool design and atmosphere. However, you have to order drinks and food at the end of the bar. You can't order food or drinks from your booth or table...you can't even stand up at the bar and order a drink from a bartender. You have to walk to the end of the bar, where there is usually a long line, and wait to order a drink. We sat upstairs at a table and had to walk downstairs to the end of the bar and wait in line to order water.... They deliver the food to your table which is a plus. A night like last night when it is 25 degrees outside and having to order drinks at the end of the bar and wait in the line next to the front door sucked. Ordered two Ramen bowls and are both sick today....not a good experience folks.

Had a great time in a great atmosphere. the spicy Miso ramen is absolutely amazing. We also ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer and they were delicious.

Questions & Answers

Yeah. They also make sake mules. They're really good

Better to ask the owner that question, because that answer would require knowing where the ingredients are bought.

I'm pretty sure they serve their entire menu every day.

Like two out of three money symbols. It's higher, but reasonable for what it is.

I am gluten free and ate there just fine. Just be sure to ask about the tare sauce and substitute GF noodles. I think they had some meat that was marinated in non-GF soy sauce too... But it was so delicious it inspired me to kick up my homemade ramen permanently!

The Shu Shop sells Vegetarian Ramen, Sesame Miso Ramen, Gluten Free Rice Noodles, and a couple more Vegan snacks and small plates.
