Shoya Izakaya

Wow - a Japanese restaurant with actual Japanese chefs, customers, and wonderfully long menu of atypical dishes! Everything is delicious, service is quick and attentive, and prices are manageable. Can get crowded during dinner hours, would definitely want to make a reservation if coming with a group. I will be back for more.

Excellent little place for yaktori, ramen, and appetizers. The kaarage was crispy and quite tasty with a a glass of Oolong Hi tea.

Wow! We went without reservations. We were told 30 minutes but waited less. The staff, sushi chefs, host, serving staff are all happy! The energy in this place is very positive and happy 😊. The menu is authentic Japanese and not a “let’s please people by Americanizing our food.” The food was awesome and the green tea is to die for. I will definitely be back. The experience was authentic and great overall.

Crowded atmosphere, but we were with a big enough group that we had a private room, which was a relief. Our friends are Japanese, and ordered for the whole table, family style. The plates are pretty small, so we had to order quite a bit to make sure everyone was satisfied. That being said, all the food was delicious. I was able to try a lot of things that I had never experienced before (like eating an entire little fish, from head to tail). The table has a call button for service, which I wish every restaurant had! This was an authentic treat.

The food is amazing and the sushi chef's are very welcoming people . But the manager is extremely rude ( his name is Rayne ), unprofessional, and utterly disrespectful. Waited to be seated for an hour and half after a long drive from Dacula, Ga---And simply asked when my table would be available. His answer was "There is nothing I can do for you, you can leave" ... A complete incompetent and imbecile. I just can't believe this guy name Rayne is the head manager at this restaurant ☹

For Atlanta, the sushi here tastes exceptionally fresh. Nice dining experience, courteous staff, and good menu options. Price is comparable to other sushi restaurants in town, but fish are fresher and quality is better.

Best shared plate adventure to date. Absolutely everything we had at the table was amazingly delicious. Well worth the stop and great for large groups or small.

Delicious food, fantastic presentation. Great service, our server was Stephanie and she was great. I had the Poke salad mix with salmon and tuna 😋.

As someone that grew up Japanese parents (dad was a sushi chef), this place reminds me of home/Japan every time I visit. Our family would always come to this restaurant every time we visited Atlanta from Savannah. The staff have always been so friendly, and the quality has always been good. Occasionally, we have had to wait awhile for our seats (but if the restaurant is crowded on a Saturday night, then that's a good sign, right???). Anytime I am craving authentic Japanese food and don't feel like making it, I will always make the trip to come here!!

My favorite Japanese restaurant with authentic and delicious food!

We come to Atlanta for about a week once a year and eat here every day when we do come. It's amazing and delicious. Nice price for the portions as well! Everything is super delightful and the staff are very attentive and always friendly :) The atmosphere and building style is perfect for this place and I always feel like I've walked into another place in the world! Honestly this place makes us consider moving here every time! You need to eat here if you haven't!

Very yummy sushi and eel! Get a lot of appetizer, it is so fresh and tasty. Service is fast and nice. They welcome you as you walk in. No line waiting . Sushi have that quality grade and it just melt down your mouth.
